Good day everyone!
Yes, I finally graduated yesterday. But not academically. I graduated from the required Rabies shots 😜.
Well, I technically still have to observe our cat for 28 days after the incident for... I hope not and I don't want to say it. But I'm sure it won't happen since our cat had her shot for rabies. She's an angel sent from above. See!
Wouldn't you agree?
But literally, she came from above this bunk bed and went down falling right to my face while I was working. I wasn't sure if she fell while sleeping or lost her footing while playing.
Imagine what I had to endure during my first dose. The doctor called it "Kiss Miming" (Kiss the cat/kitten). Why? Well because the first dose will be injected right were the bite/scratch is located. In my case, I was injected in the chin, the nose, and on my upper lip - hence the term "Kiss Miming".
Yesterday was my schedule for the last shot, it was supposed to be on Monday but the clinic was closed for the holiday.
Like the previous doses, I had to wake up at around 3 am since we were only commuting to the clinic. It was still dark when we left home at around 3:30 am.
We had to walk about a kilometer because there was no public transportation available at that hour in our subdivision. It took us around 20 minutes to reach the road crossing, where we were finally able to flag down a taxi.
Upon arriving at the City Health's Animal Bite Center I gave my card to a lady in red shirt to secure my spot in the queue. Apparently, the one who came here first is the one who collects the card for those scheduled for the 2nd and 3rd dose while the clinic staff are not yet around. They start their shift here at 7 am but the one in reception always reports to the clinic at 6:00 am to collect the cards.
After a while, I felt something ominous. I had a gut feeling that something bad was going to happen today. And I was right! The spicy food we had last night was now making its presence known. This was bad timing, as the clinic was still closed and there were no CR nearby. Since I had already secured my spot in the queue, we decided to look for a public CR. The nearest one, as I roughly estimated, was about 500 meters away in the heart of the city.
We've walked our way there but unfortunately, the public CR is still closed when we arrived. I thought it was open 24/7, I guessed wrong. Luckily, we've found an alternative that's open 24/7 across the street. Although it was more expensive, but when you need to go, you've got to go. If you know what I mean. Mental note to myself - Never eat spicy foods the night before an early appointment.
It cost us almost 500 PHP just for the use of the comfort room. It was air conditioned though and it came with 2 cups of coffee, a 2-pc burger steak meal for my partner, and a crunchy chicken sandwich for myself, so I guess the cost is justified 😉. I didn't finish my coffee though. I'm afraid of its laxative effects.
The sun was already shining when we were done eating the freebies from that public CR.
When we came back to the animal bite center, the queue for those in need of the first dose (no card/records yet) is already starting to get long. Those who came for 2nd/3rd dose need not fall in line since we already submitted our cards, and we will be attended to based on who submitted the card first. In my estimate I managed to secure the 20th-25th spot.
I was done at around 7:30 am. Look, now the queue had extended to the road. This will continue to extend as patients from around the city all go here for the Rabies Vaccine. I am glad to have been able to wake up early for this shot. Had I not then It would have taken me a whole day here.
Going home we decided not to take a taxi to save money. In exchange we had to walk for another 500 m to where a jeepney that is en route our home. It only took 10mins of waiting then we finally were able to ride a jeepney.
When we arrived home I immediately went back to bed and continue sleeping 😴.
That would be all for this post. Thanks for taking time reading it.
Have a great day everyone!
