Hello, fellow Hivers! It has been quite a while since my last update, and life has been a whirlwind of activity. I’ve missed this community, but I have a very good reason for my silence.
I am thrilled to share that I have officially graduated from my chef’s program here in Switzerland! It’s been an intense journey of mastering techniques, surviving high-pressure kitchens, and refining my craft in one of the world’s most prestigious culinary hubs.
I’m so proud of this milestone, and I can’t wait to show you the "behind-the-scenes" of my training, the dishes I’ve mastered, and what’s next on my plate. Stay tuned for a deeper dive into the graduation ceremony and some tasty photos!

Throughout my culinary journey the most important lesson I’ve learned is this: the best recipes aren’t the most complicate, they’re the ones that bring the family together. Today, I’m sharing a kid-friendly twist on the classic Black Forest Cake that proves you don’t need a complicated setup to make something spectacular.
If you’re searching for a treat that’s as easy to make as it is to enjoy, this kid-friendly Black Forest Cake is the perfect answer. It’s more than just a simple, delightful dessert—it’s a recipe designed to create lasting memories in the kitchen and become a treat your children will truly cherish for years to come.
I decided to give the timeless Black Forest Cake a simple yet delicious makeover. This version swaps the cherries for pure, chocolatey goodness, making it an instant favorite for kids and a stress-free win for parents.
In this video, you’ll learn how to make a soft, chocolatey layered cake with fluffy whipped cream—no complicated steps, no fancy ingredients, just pure homemade goodness. It is perfect for birthdays, family treats, or baking fun with kids!
What Makes This Recipe Special
No cherry filling: Great for picky eaters who aren't fans of fruit in their cake!

Soft chocolate sponge + creamy layers: A classic combination that never fails.
Beginner-friendly & fun: A great project to get the kids involved in the kitchen.
The Simple Kid-Friendly Black Forest Cake
Whether you’re a parent, a beginner baker, or just craving a simple chocolate cake, this recipe is for you! By using pre-made chocolate sponge layers, you can focus on the fun part: assembly and decoration.
Ingredients You'll Need:
Store-bought chocolate sponge cake layers (Biscuit-Tortenboden)
Whipping cream (Vollrahm)
Cream stabilizer (Rahmhalter/Sahnesteif)
Chocolate shavings (Raspel Schokolade)
Cocktail cherries (for optional decoration on top)
Step-by-Step Guide:
Prepare the Whipped Cream: Start by pouring your cold whipping cream into a bowl. Add the cream stabilizer and use a hand mixer to whip the cream until it forms stiff, fluffy peaks [
].
Layer the Cake: Place the first chocolate sponge layer on your serving plate. Spread a generous, even layer of the whipped cream across the surface [
].
Add the Top Layer: Place the second chocolate sponge layer carefully on top [
]. Use the remaining whipped cream to cover the top and the sides of the cake smoothly [
].
Time to Decorate: This is the best part for kids! Pipe small rosettes of whipped cream around the top edge of the cake [
].
The Finishing Touch: Sprinkle a handful of chocolate shavings into the center of the cake [
]. You can also add a few cherries on top of the cream rosettes for that classic look, even though we've skipped the heavy filling inside!
