Today I have lunch with my friends at the Sama Square food court. Sama Square is a vibrant food court with an industrial-chic aesthetic, featuring open steel beams, colourful stalls, and a spacious layout. It provides a casual and lively dining environment, with various local and international food vendors. The space is well-lit with natural sunlight streaming through its semi-open roof design, and seating areas are modern yet simple, focusing on functionality and comfort.

After looking around, I ordered the Bacon Pork Fried Rice from Fried Rice Heaven for RM12.90. It is a hearty and savoury meal featuring fragrant stir-fried rice tossed with vegetables like cabbage, carrots, and onions, scrambled egg, and flavorful slices of crispy, smoky bacon. It is served with a small dish of soy-based for dipping or drizzling.

Fried rice originated in China over a thousand years ago as a way to repurpose leftover rice and ingredients. Over time, it spread globally and adapted to local tastes. The use of bacon is a Western twist, combining traditional stir-frying techniques with Western-style cured pork for a fusion flavor that's popular in modern Asian-Western kitchens.
