Every Filipino are always prepared for either New Year or Christmas Day. They adopt the culture of Chinese where they have round fruits and other food best for the celebration of good luck in the whole new year.
In my case, I don't believe one hundred percent because I'd rather believe the God's existence than this. I just tried to put food on the table for our first time celebrating with our own. Additionally, I prepared food on the table for the blessings that we have received.
Food that we Prepared
Pork Ribs Barbeque
I marinated the ribs before grilling. I marinated it with soy sauce, vinegar, oyster sauce, banana ketchup, calamansi, black pepper, magic sarap, and minced garlic.
I used the charcoal for grilling. I had done it perfectly because the ribs were not overcooked. While grilling it, I paste it with ketchup and black pepper. and soy sauce.
Spaghetti
I'd prefer to cook spaghetti with a lot of ground pork and my favorite Virginia hotdog. I'd love my spaghetti with a little sweet on it. I added condensed milk to the sauce.
Bangus Fish Fillet
I marinated the Bangus fish before frying. I marinated it for 5 hours. After frying the fish, I make the sauce with vinegar, a little bit of soy sauce, outer sauce, black pepper, onion, garlic and sugar. I also add sliced carrots. If you have potato, it an optional for you. That time, I haven't potatoes.
Chopsuey
I just fried first with onion and garlic before putting the vegetables. After I added the veggies, I added half a cup of water to make the veggies cook. I'd prefer half cook on chop suey to make it crunchy. After, I added some salt, black pepper and oyster sauce. It's good to have shrimps on your chop suey. It's up to you if you'd like shrimps on your chop suey.
Desserts
We had various desserts like blanca, fruit salad, mango float, sticky rice( biko), and chiffon cake.
Beverages
We had Royal drink (Orange) , Chuckie chocolate drink and Del Monte four seasons drink.
How to prepare for Prosperity Bowl?
In yoyourowl, add big cotton on the bottom, then add some rice.
Then, put 12 eggs above on rice in a round form.
Insert 12 chocolate gold coins around the eggs.
Put the 12 bay leaves at the back of the 12 eggs.
Add paper money with cotton inside and tighten with red ribbon.
Put fruit in the center either an orange or apple. I put apple on the Prosperity ball. But, most people put orange but I didn't have extra orange that time. The fung chui said that it's okay either apple or orange.
Put 168 paper bills on your Angpao for good luck as well.
Our Family Pictures
That's my little family. We took pictures at midnight as our remembrance. Unfortunately, my son was not in a good mood because he was sleepy at that time.
Anyway, during midnight, I prayed to the Almighty God that our whole year would be full of happiness and opportunities. Importantly, I pray as well that our family will have good health.
Anyway, that's how we celebrate on New Year's Eve.
I am still thankful that we are complete and still survive the struggles that we have been through for the last whole year.
