Quick and Easy Pork Guisantes

Hello everyone!!
May your day be great, fantastic, and awesomely blessed!!

Sometimes we have limited time to prepare our meals due to circumstances like what happened today. My husband and my daughter went for errands, and I was left alone at home with the two fur babies, doing some chores, and taking care of them separately.

So, it was a bit late for me to cook dinner. Aside from that, I am still afraid of cooking with butane alone at home, since it's my first time using it. Our stove and gas valve (Gasul) were broken due to the typhoon, and I'm really afraid to change the canister on it.

So, when my husband and my daughter came home, I immediately prepared a simple, quick, and easy dish with the available ingredients that I had.

Here's what I made.

Quick and Easy Pork Guisantes

  • Pork
  • Guisantes or Green Peas
  • Onion
  • Garlic

  • Bell Pepper (sadly, I don't have it, but I still include it here if you want to cook like this, it's much better to have bell pepper)
  • Tomato
  • Ground Pepper
  • Salt
  • MSG (just a little amount)
  • Knorr Liquid Seasoning
  • Tomato Paste
  • Slurry (optional)
  • Sugar

Clean and wash the pork thoroughly, and then cut it into small pieces.
Peel and wash the onion, then cut it into small pieces.
Wash and peel the ginger, then cut it into strips.
Crush and peel garlic, then cut into small pieces.
Wash the tomato, then cut or slice it.
Set them all aside with the rest of the ingredients.

COOKING TIME:

Heat a small amount of canola oil in a pan. Sauté the garlic for a few seconds, then the onions until they soften, and then the ginger. Sauté them altogether until aromatic.

Then add the tomatoes and sliced pork, stir-fry for 5 minutes. Then add ground pepper and salt to taste. And then add 1 tbsp of tomato paste. Stir and mix well.

Then add water, cover, and let it simmer for a few minutes. Then add Knorr liquid seasoning, a small amount og MSG, and 1 tsp of sugar to balance the flavor. Continue cooking until the water has reduced and the pork has softened and become tender.

Then add a little of the slurry, it's optional, but I did, though... just 1 tsp of cornstarch and 3 tbsp of water.

Stir and mix them well. Finally, add the green peas or guisantis. Cook for just 3 minutes and it's all done. This is just so simple, quick, and easy, and yet very delicious.

Sort:

Guisantes or Green Peas

Are these the same thing but just a different word for them?

Hi there...yes, you're right. They are the same but with different word. Guisantes is a Spanish word for peas or green peas however the word guisantes is commonly used in Filipino cuisine too. 🙂
Thank you so much for visiting my post @jack.russelle..❣🙏

You got an A for that quick dinner! I love how you added ginger and tomato paste; it gives it a great flavor that saves the day.

Thank you so much @musicandreview...🙂❣
Yes this combination adds both depth and brightness flavor to dishes. Adding enough amount of fresh ginger into a tomato sauce can help balance the acidity resulting to a flavorful and harmonious dish even in this simple and quick way of cooking.
Best regards and God bless!!🙏❣

There are really days when we’re so busy that we don’t get to cook until late. This looks absolutely delicious.

So true and we end up cooking a quick and easy dishes. We even have some instant noodles or just fry an eggs sometimes. 😊
Thank you so much for stopping by @kellyanne
