Jakarta is the city of everything in Indonesia. In addition to being a city of business, culture, education, the center of government, and culinary—of course. One of the centers of street culinary in Jakarta is on Jalan Sabang or now called Jalan Haji Agus Salim. In the Dutch colonial era, the street was called Zandstraat.
Although now called Jalan Haji Agus Salim, many residents still call it Jalan Sabang, and many even know it better as Jalan Sabang than Jalan Haji Agus Salim. If you take a taxi and call it Jalan Sabang, the taxi driver already knows where to take you.
Every time I go to Jakarta, I look for street culinary on Jalan Sabang. Don't imagine that street food on Jalan Sabang is the same as extreme street food in a country in South Asia. Street culinary on Jalan Sabang Jakarta is hygienic, delicious, and even relatively cheaper. Its strategic location, within walking distance from Jalan Thamrin, makes it visited by many domestic and foreign tourists.
Visitors here have many choices to try various types of culinary. That night, I, along with several students who had participated in an exchange program at Malikussaleh University, tried Warung Seafood 99. If you enter via Jalan Wahid Hasyim, this seafood location is on the right.
We ordered fish and mussels in Padang sauce and vegetables. I was very impressed with the green mussels in Padang sauce which tasted very "kicking" on the tongue. Even when the rice we ate was finished, we were free to sip the Padang sauce sauce deliciously. This style of eating is impossible to do in a fancy restaurant.
But street food is also a luxury, including at Warung Seafood 99. There are various types of seafood here as a menu. You can eat with white rice or uduk rice, or just want to enjoy seafood and vegetables without rice. For our order, I paid Rp210,000 or equivalent to 48 #hive. while for green oysters with Padang sauce it was only around Rp35,000 or around 8 #hive.
So, don't hesitate to try seafood on Jalan Sabang, Jakarta. The culinary location opens at 17.000 and closes at midnight.[]
