You'd think I'd be utterly tired of doing anything the moment the light of dawn shone on me. I mean, I felt that way before going to sleep with tired limbs. I could remember how I struggled to stay awake to finish up yesterday's work despite the milestone of a walk taken yesterday.
Yeah... I was amazed as well. 16k fugging plus walk! That's huge for me. I didn't even know I could achieve that, which is exactly why I didn't struggle with sleep much. I ate well, though, with sleepy eyes and went to sleep today... Yes! Today. Today, I woke up earlier than expected to do house cleaning since I was unable to do that yesterday because I went out.
I knew how terrible Lagos traffic could be, so I went out as early as I could. The walk to my destination was intense as I was not so familiar with Lagos road. I kept asking for directions every 15 minutes or so to be sure I was right on track, and if I wasn't, there'd be time to quickly find the right route.
...and that was how yesterday went. It was actually an adventure, and I am glad I was able to achieve what I basically went out for. While in that part of Lagos, I noticed how some places smelled a lot. Geez! I was grateful I was with my handkerchief and that my legs moved faster to escape those places. I can't for the love of anything in the world understand how people could stay or even sell goods in those places. It is sad and unhealthy. It is the reality of some people, and they just have to bear it to survive.
I arrived at my location on time, checked out other places before venturing back home, and this time around, I didn't ask around much for directions because I was now familiar with places I passed through. Though I had to take a different route in between, which prompted me on the “ask for direction path” again.
I met a lot of interesting people who just made my day better. People who I sought directions from were super kind in giving out directions and that... I was grateful for it. Also, I do see tweets a lot and even heard from people how crazy Lagos can be, and I had my fair share yesterday.
On my way back home with my earbud stuck to my ear, oozing out melodies from Asian people, I almost had my face touched by some unknown guy. Imagine going your way, and someone almost places their hands on your face. It was scary. I was grateful that I quickly dodged it. I was gobsmacked and just stared at the guy with eyes wide open. It was unbelievably real that I had to go through that. I didn't speak, though I am sure my eyes sent a clear message to the person before walking on.
I got home tired, stressed, and hungry, so I quickly fixed a night meal after showering. I ate, did a few things online before calling it a day. Today, I have so much on my plate but no pressure. It's almost time for a new dawn, but before that, my post will be visible.
