Hi it is not a stupid question @genesisledger but it works very much the same way as the Hive Token.

Powering up Alive very much like powering up Hive gives you governance in the community meaning your upvotes are worth more within the community depending on your stake.

It also means that the rewards you get back for staking the Alive token is also increased.

Depending how much you have staked also means you can all the tipping bot using the !ALIVE command.

The community and projects is going through a revival and revamp at the moment.

Thank you so much for your detailed explanation, it's truly one of the reasons why I love Hive!

I must admit I don’t fully understand everything yet, but I’ll also do my own research to avoid taking up too much of your time. In the meantime, I checked Hive Keychain and I have 6 Alive. I wanted to stake them, but it seems a minimum amount is required. So, I’ll wait until I reach that threshold before getting started!

You are welcome, it is a lot of information and there is a lot to the whole project it is a big plus to have an active, growing and developing community.

I am happy answering any questions and there is also a discord server where community members instant message if you want an invite let me know.

You should have been able to have staked any amount i think hive-engine is struggling with tech issues at the moment.
