Tonight’s #BurgerSaturday adventure felt extra special because it came after a full day of fun along Orchard Road.
I went to check out the Christmas village, wandered around the lights and decorations, took plenty of photos, and by the time I was done, my stomach was seriously growling. A good burger meal felt like the perfect way to end the night, so I made my way to a place that has been on my radar for a while, NBCB, Nothing But Cheeseburger.
It was my first time dining here and finding the shop felt a bit like following a secret map. NBCB is tucked on the 4th floor of Orchard Central, right at the far end of the building. You would not just stumble upon it by accident, you really have to look for it. When I finally reached the place, I was greeted by bold yellow signs, black walls, and this slightly edgy, modern vibe. Even though it was already past normal dinner time, there were still plenty of diners around, chatting and enjoying their food. It gave me the feeling that I had found a little burger club for people who take their cheeseburgers seriously.
I went straight for the classic, a single cheeseburger set with fries and drink. The whole set cost SGD 18.90, which at first sounds a bit steep for one person, but once the tray arrived, I immediately felt that it was actually a good deal. The burger was a decent size, not tiny at all, and the fries portion looked like it could feed two people easily. The drink was iced tea with a slice of real lemon floating on top, simple but refreshing.
The star of the show was of course the burger. I asked for medium well, which is exactly how I like it, and they nailed it. The patty was juicy, meaty, and well seasoned, with that satisfying bite that tells you they did not skimp on the quality of the meat. There was a fair amount of melted cheese, enough to give that creamy, salty richness in every mouthful without overpowering the patty. Fresh lettuce and tomato added some crunch and a bit of freshness so it did not feel too heavy.
The bun was soft and slightly toasted. It is not the fancy brioche style bun, but it held everything together nicely and did not get soggy, so I was quite happy with it. Sometimes a simple bun that does its job is all you really need.
Then there were the fries. Let me just say, the fries were perfect. Thick cut, freshly fried, crispy on the outside and soft inside, exactly how I dream of my fries on a burger night. I kept dipping them in ketchup and munching away, and it honestly felt endless, like they secretly doubled my portion. I almost could not finish everything, which is a rare thing for me on a hungry night.
The overall vibe of NBCB is chill and cozy, with just enough personality in the design and signs to make you smile. It feels casual, but in a way that tells you they care about the food.
This is my 4th consecutive #BurgerSaturday post and I can totally see this tradition continuing. With places like NBCB to discover, my burger journey in the city is far from over. I will definitely be back for another cheeseburger fix.
