Hello, friends especially foodies!
Even i like to try and also have some favorite dishes abroad, but my first love is always my lovely home country dishes, Indonesia. So recently i went to one of the restaurant which served hundred must try Indonesian dishes, well how as my experience? What dishes that i tried that day? Then just follow me to figure it out.
When we arrived at the restaurant, it was still around 11.30 am, we didn't want to arrive lately there because we wouldn't even get a table even if we came there on dine time, so make sure you want to come to their branch, come early.
Well like you could see, the restaurant's name is Remboelan (means moon) which sells Indonesian soulfood. From the outside, it looked wide and also had wooden touch.
Inside, the interior is well decorated. They even had green artificial plants to decore. Some of the chairs were soft and long, while others were made of wood. They separated some tables in an area, some tables in other areas, this is their way to give the customers some privacy. On on corner even they have some private rooms for special occasions. Well, even when their restaurant is full, it would be still comfy to be there. And also they had washing hand area too.
Anyway I love how they decor it because they really mean it, i mean they concern about their customers' privacy and comfortability.
Well, talking about their menu, prepare yourself to see restaurant which had so many dishes in their menu, lol. Yes it would make you confuse cause believe me many are great, tasty and popular so it means many must try dishes there!
For the opening, you could try their side dishes like gohyong, shrimp veggie fritter, crispy mushroom, gejrot tofu, stuffed fried tofu, deep fried tofu, petis tofu, walik tofu and crispy tofu.
They also had adaan pempek, cireng, fishcake springroll, lemper ayu, shrimp stuffed tofu, fried cassava, grilled meatball, crispy tempeh, mendoan tempeh, submarine pempek, and skin pempek.
Some of the satay they sold were matah chili paste chicken or beef satay, chicken satay, beef satay, young mango chili paste satay, and below they had choices of chili paste which they sold.
They also sold kind of herb rice in a traditional rice bowl, called bakul. They had some variants like salted egg, smoked tongkol, smoked chicken, lime leaves teri, wet teri and lime leaves pandan chicken.
For grilled rice (rice wrapped with banana leaves then grilled) and the variants they offered were roa, smoke tongkol green chili, salted baby squid, peda salted fish (looks tasty), lamb tongseng, and smoked chicken.
Next, they also had kind variant of mixed rice. They had berkat rice, manado mixed rice, langgi rice, rijstaffel yellow turmeric rice, begana rice and complete uduk rice.
They had corn rice, liwet rice, fried soto, gandul rice, opor rice, veggie rice cake, and cap gomeh rice cake.
Well, their menu is so thick. So i won't explain them one by one. Let me explain them briefly. There they sold kind of fried rice and noodle, soup, seafood menu, beef menu, cobekan menu (chili paste with meat on top that put in cobek - traditional made of rock chili paste maker), chicken menu, vegetable menu, and also tofu menu.
Well, that's are all their food menu, and they still had a smaller menu which presented their tea time menu, traditional kendil porridge, dessert and kind of ice.
They also still have kind of coffee, coco iced, traditional drink, and beverages.
Well, i'm so sorry because they had so many menu so that i couldn't take all of the pages to show you here. One of my suggestion is planning to order before you come by browsing their menu online so that you won't confuse when you're choosing the menu there.
Then our menu came, but unfortunately it came one by one.
We were starving so even the tempeh menu hadn't arrived yet, we already started eating. Here was our table
Then the tempeh came later.
Well, now after all menu was ready and we already tasted it, i would like to share how their taste.
REMBOELAN'S CANDLENUT SAUCE GRILLED GOURAMI FISH
This is of their special recipe, candlenut sauce to make a grilled gourami. We could choose it to be spicy or not. Their spices deep through the fish meat and it made the fish was not fishy. Super tasty, the flavour of it was sweet, spicy and also savory. Overall, both of us loved this grilled gourami and of course it is a must try menu from Remboelan.
LODEH SOUP
Lodeh contained ingredients like tempeh, long bean, chayote, stinky beans, and eggplant, completed with sliced chili. Cooked with coconut milk and many more spices, it had savory and sweet flavour. It was so tasty and it was the best i've ever had. So it is also a must try!
LIME LEAVES RICE PANDAN CHICKEN
It was their special aromatic lime leaves rice (smelled and tasted so good in savory), topped with savory crispy traditional pandan chicken (woah, it was soft and so tasty too), onion and also stinky beans. I don't know how they cooked the stinky beans but somehow it removed the stink and i loved it. Well one more must try menu there.
SMASHED TEMPEH
Keeping the best for the last, the tastiest smashed tempeh came later when we were enjoying our lunch. The fried tempeh smashed perfectly with traditional uncooked chili paste on top. The tempeh had light savory flavour while the red chili paste brought spicy and savory flavor. Well, it is also a must try!
We also ordered a dessert there
FRUIT SOUP ICED
Crowded and rich, the fruit soup containes papaya, melon, watermelon, basil, and jelly served with syrup and condensed milk. Tasted sweet and served chilled, it was a fresh dessert during the day. Try this and you will come back for more!
Overall, all the Indonesian dishes we had that day was amazing, they were so tasty even superb. No wonder all of the menus we tried, i said must try. Even it was a bit pricey and the portions were small, but we will come back there again next time to try their other menus.
