Hello Asean Hive Community
Two weeks ago I ended my $1 meal saga, because of two major reasons. The first one is about the inflation we have here, because of dollar rate and the gas price. Blaming the middle east war would not solve anything here. The second reason was my health issue.
After some days thinking about how to replace this, I have decided to come up with a new budget for my meal. It is a 1,5 USD, or in Indonesian Rupiah it is 26.500. I plan to set my budget to 25.000 rupiah because I believe I can have many alternatives for my meal, without sacrificing the nutrient I need and the place would not be so shabby and dirty.

So this was my meal from last week, it was a grilled mackerel with red chili paste. This was a Padang or Minang cuisine, so it was very spicy. Minang is the tribe and Padang is the region, and please do not expect to get non spicy food from there or them lol.

Anyway this rounded white thing is called as Kerupuk, a fish cracker. Basically it is a dough with some fish flavor, a very cheap one and full of carbo. It has no other benefit, a junk food, but it gives a boost for our appetite when bite and chew them.
This fish craker is one of my favorite junk food, but I know I should not eat it frequently. So I usually have them only one piece, during days that I feel I need to push myself to eat a lot.

Another signature side dish for Minang Cuisine is sambal (chili paste) and some cassave leaves. Cassave leaves is good for your immune system. They have a good content of flavonoid , which help you maintain your cholesterol and sugar level. Minang Cuisine are full of coconut milk, sugar and many spices, so you do need to get this Cassave Leaves as part of the meal.
By the way, I have visited this outlet several time. The last time I came here, they scammed me with their Sweet Ice Tea. This time I came and be bold about having my Ice Tea served better.

So this was how they responded, they put in more ice and let the sugar sunk below.

What I mean here, literally they gave me tea without dissolved Sugar. They let the sugar sunk, and of course due to the temperature which got cold due to those ice, I could not make those sugar dissolved. I asked them what they meant with serving this, what they answered was simple... "Sugar is soluble in water"
That's another trait from budget meal outlet here. You send some complain, they will think that they deserve to stand for themselves by doing retaliation. Sometime the way they think is very simple, they think they are small people, they already sell you cheap food, so you should respect them more lol
Well, whatever... this is my first edition for my new 1,5 USD meal saga anyway. Atleast I know I still can get a good food with this budget. See you later!

Thank you for coming and reading my post. I live in Jakarta, Capital City of Indonesia. I used to live by making money online, that's why I like being here, on HIVE, and in #PIMP - (Paper In My Pocket) community. Feel Free to leave any comment below
