Another Part Of Jakarta - Frugal For You but Not For Me

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITY4 hours ago

Hello Asean Hive Community

Today I want to share something different, but it is not the topic that is different, but more like people in another part of my city, Jakarta. I have been posting a lot of cheap food here in term of doing Frugal Living. The fact is that Frugal has different standard for each people, and sometime it is not as simple as saying if someone is middle class people or lower class people.

So this time I will share some food that most Japanese here in Jakarta eat if they are in financial trouble. Whether they get these food for frugal living or they just ran out of money.

Most Japanese will go to Convenience style ready to go food if they want to get cheap foods for them. There are some famous place to get them, and I have taken some food pics from Papaya, which is very famous for Japanese people living in Jakarta.

I pick this one, Hiyashi Udon and tempura set. It is cold Udon dish, and they are tagged at 3 USD price. Price wise, they are quite cheap, but not the cheapest for this menu. I think this is a best buy one, because I know Papaya doesn't sell food with weird taste and flavor, their goods are good. I can say that because I was their regular customers, before I lost all my money, my jobs and my assets that I had built in decades just to cover some stupidity in my family.

This Hiyashi Udon taste is still below the Marugame Udon, but you can not compare ready to go food with fast food restaurant or a normal restaurant food. They are bound to have lower quality, no matter how great they are. You just can compare food that is made for you with food that premade hours before you come.

The second one is Kokyu Yakitori Bento. It means the ultimate grill chicken bento, they put everything thre include Okra and Kabocha. For a rice bento, I think this is the second most expensive one. The most expensive one is Salmon Bento, but I think it is weird if you want to eat expensive ready to go food.

Rp 54.000 or around 3.4 USD, a bit higher than Hiyashi Udon and tempura set, but this one is a rice bento.

Honestly I have never been a fan of chicken bento. With that money, I can buy whole grilled chicken, and I prefer to have it that way. Eat whole chicken with some free salads, without any rice.

The last is Ten Don, one of the famous donbury and as I have said in my post about Tendon, they are not selling well here lol. It is tagged at Rp 50.000 or 3.1 USD and itr is one of the pricey one, on par with that Ultimate Chicken Bento.

TL:DR I do not buy any of those bento, I just came to take some shot of them lol. I buy something else, but not the ready to go from this outlet. I could pay them, but for sure I could not afford them right now. It would hurt me or would be backlash later.

They are good choice of meals for Japanese people here who do frugal living, but for local like me, it is far from frugal. Only whale person such as @arveno or snacking junky such as @viviehardika who can afford this food on daily based. Ah I forget, there is another local people here on hive, @devyleona, who love to dine out at this price range.

Anyway if you have to pick, which one will be your choice from those three? Or perhaps you have other option? I might come back again here to check it that for you.

Okthat's for today post. Thanks for coming and reading my post and God Bless You all.

Thank you for coming and reading my post. I live in Jakarta, Ex-Capital City of Indonesia. I used to live by making money online, that's why I like being here, on HIVE, and in #PIMP - (Paper In My Pocket) community.

Haha literally not daily. That price is still expensive to daily 🤣

Only works as good emergency food and when you are just too lazy to cook.
