Hi there. I share my thoughts on the Hakka Band Restaurant in Guangzhou, China. This post was originally planned in my China travel post series. Instead, I have this as a standalone post.
This was in September 2024 while I was on vacation.
Location
This Hakka Band restaurant is located in the plaza area outside of the Jiangtai Lu Road station. I actually ended up not getting a picture of the front but the surrounding area. The restaurant is located on the second or third floor (I forget).

The place was not too busy so the wait times to get seated is not long.
Food Photos
Scallops With Vermicelli Noodle, Garlic & Onion Mix
This one was one of the healthier dishes. The scallop is underneath the mix of clear vermicelli noodle, garlic and onion. The taste was okay. Not awful but not amazing. You can add chili sauce for more of a kick.
Fried Rice Dish
When I saw this dish arrive, I was confused. It was really dark. Even my own worst fried rice dish attempt at home did not have the rice this dark. I think the taste was okay but the colour of this fried rice still leaves confused to this day.
Pork Belly With Vegetables
This Pork dish was good. The meat was soft with the fat tasting like jelly. There are vegetables underneath. As the pieces are fatty, this is a dish you would have every once in a while for health reasons.
Tofu Dish
Here is this nice Tofu dish where the Tofu was soft and easy to eat.
Food taste overall was okay. One of the dishes (Tofu or Pork Dish) had a long wait time for some reason. They might have forgotten the order until we notified one of the waiters. Avoid the fried rice, Tofu dish was good, the Scallop dish was okay and the Pork Belly was good.
In terms of cost, I don't remember. Definitely less than 15 CAD per person from ordering the 4 dishes.
This Hakka Band restaurant was not as good as the Yixin Hotel restaurant in Meizhou, China. Hakka Band Restaurant was not awful but it was not good enough for a recommendation or another visit. There are probably better dining places than this near Jiangtai Road in Guangzhou, China.
