Thanks for this great piece in rural living ...
I am always fascinated by rural living areas for one reason... Community ..
The communal living culture in rural areas means that there is less people who are alone and depressed. It means that more people can congregate on common grounds and celebrate wins and losses.
I believe it is this communal mindset that the pubs in many urban areas try to replicate around alcohol. Most people don't go to pubs because the alcohol is good, they go because there is a community that they can say that they belong to... One where they are free of inhibition and intense judgement.
As the world becomes more urbanized, we are gradually getting more isolated and less communal, we are seeing people who are lonely even when they are not alone.
The days when people would gather around fires under the moonlight to listen to an elder tell stories by the moonlight 🌙 is fast becoming a history.
Maybe something would replace those times, maybe something has already replaced them... But this is what makes rural living a haven for serenity among nature.
