Ingredients
🥩 1 pound of ground beef
🧅 1 medium-sized onion, finely chopped
🧄 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
🌿 1/2 cup parsley, finely chopped
🌶️ 2 tablespoons pepper paste
🧂 1 teaspoon salt
🌶️ 1 teaspoon paprika
🌿 1/2 teaspoon cumin
🌿 1/2 teaspoon coriander
🌶️ 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
🌶️ 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes
🌿 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
For the Stew:
🫒 2 tablespoons olive oil
🧅 1 medium-sized onion, diced
🥔 4 potatoes, diced
🍅 1 tomato, diced
🥫 1 6oz can of tomato paste
💧 4 cups of warm water
🧂 1 teaspoon salt or to taste
🌶️ 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1- Prepare the Kofta:
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped onion, garlic, and parsley.
- Add the pepper paste, salt, paprika, cumin, coriander, black pepper, chili flakes, and cinnamon.
- Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.
- Form the mixture into balls approximately 1 inch in diameter.
2- Cook the Kofta:
- Heat a large pan over high heat and add the olive oil.
- Once the oil is hot, add the kofta balls.
- Sear them lightly on all sides until browned, then remove from the pan and set aside.
3- Prepare the Stew:
- In the same pan, add diced onion and potatoes.
- Cook for about 5 minutes until onions are translucent and potatoes begin to soften.
- Add the diced tomato and tomato paste. Stir until well combined and let cook for a couple of minutes.
4- Combine and Cook:
- Return the seared kofta balls to the pan.
- Pour in the warm water, and season with salt and black pepper.
- Mix well, cover the pan, and let it simmer on medium heat for about 20 minutes, or until the potatoes are cooked through and the stew has thickened.
5- Serve:
- Garnish with freshly chopped parsley if desired.
