My grandmother used to make the best knedle ever! She was adding raw grated potatoes to the boiled ones too. They after they were boiled they looked less appetizing and kind of grey. But they were amazing! Most of the times stuffed with plums or cottage cheese also made by her.

Adding shreds can be fun, haven't seen anyone here is preparing them that way.
Sounds like 👽 knedle, plum combo was my favorite until I tried cheese 🤤
Maybe it was some regional from where she comes from.
They looked more like this, which on this blog they have different name and are associated with a different region. 🤷
Then she would often heat them up on a pan with some butter and they would get lovely brown, crispy skin 🤤
Oh and the cheese inside is not sweet, but savory (mixed with plenty of black pepper).
