Garden pests, Mildiu

in FreeCompliments7 days ago

Pests are a problem for the horticulturist, but they are part of nature and we must learn to live with them. It is a mistake to try to eliminate them completely with products that in the long term will be much more harmful to us, causing serious illnesses. In this series of articles I will talk about how to deal with these small, undesirable living beings.

Mildew is without a doubt the most feared fungus by farmers. It especially affects vines if the year is very humid but it can attack almost any plant including garlic and onions.
Personally, it causes problems for potatoes in humid years when it is combined with alternaria, which is another fungus.

Brown spots begin to appear on the leaves and then they dry up. This causes the plant to be unable to breathe and die. But mildew is also capable of attacking fruit.
The most effective method, but not at all ecological, is to use copper oxychloride. I do not recommend it but it is really effective unlike other methods.
The most important thing is to prevent it from appearing and if the plants are ventilated it is a good measure. You can use horsetail infusions that have effects but are not as effective.
You have to burn the plants to prevent its spread.
