Hello everyone, welcome to another Creative Sunday episode with George Dee. Today, I will share with you one of my birthday specials.
It was my birthday last week, and I had to prepare some snacks due to cravings and the few guests I had. Unfortunately, I couldn't capture pictures on that day, even though it was my very first time making a baked pie.
Plus, I didn't have enough of the pie for myself, so I decided to make some for just two. I made sure the pie was of the same quality as the one I prepared during the week, and I felt it would be nice to share this recipe. It's a regular pie, but I used sausage as the filling and baked it instead of using my regular frying technique.
Ingredients:
Flour
Sausage
Baking powder
Sugar
Egg
Milk
Groundnut oil
Carrot
Potatoes
Onions
Salt
Seasoning cubes
Chili powder
Procedure:
I started making my sausage pie by preparing the dough.
- I poured my flour into a bowl and added some sugar.

- I added some milk and a little salt.

- I added baking powder and an egg.

- I added a little groundnut oil and mixed them together.

- I added a small quantity of water before mixing again.
- I mixed continuously until the flour became sticky.
- I added more flour and started kneading. I kneaded the dough until it became smooth.
- I put the dough aside and prepared the filling.
I had already blended the sausage because I wanted it to melt on my tongue with every bite. I grated the potato, onion, and carrot.
I heated my groundnut oil in a frying pan.
- I poured the onions into the hot oil first and allowed them to fry for about a minute on low heat.

- I added the grated potato and allowed it to fry for a minute too.
- The blended sausage joined the party.

- I added a cube of seasoning and salt to taste.

- I stirred and allowed everything to fry for about three minutes before adding the grated carrot.

- I mixed them together, and finally, the chili powder came in because it has to be hot.
- I allowed them to fry for about 8 minutes on low heat.
- Now that my filling was ready, I returned to my dough for the final part.
- I got my rolling pin, sprinkled some flour on my table, and started working.
- I cut a small quantity of dough, placed it on the table, and flattened the dough with the rolling pin.
- I cut the size I needed, placed the filling in the middle, and folded the dough, covering the filling. I trimmed the excess dough closure and sealed the edge with a fork. I repeated the process for the remaining dough and sausage.
I sprinkled some flour on my baking pan and placed the sausage pies on it. I put the pan into an oven and turned on the heat.
Being my first time, I can't tell the exact time needed, so I checked almost every minute to be sure they didn't get burnt. It took me 40 minutes, and my sausage pie was ready.
Let me know what you think about my sausage pie in the comment section.
