My First Time Cooking Humba on All Saints’ Day

Hello there my lovely hivers!!!

This happened on November 1, when we prepared food to put on our altar. It shows that we were catholic still putting food on the altar and had a novena on the night. My parents still practice this, and it's being passed down generation by generation.

The story for this, why I'm the one cooking this was my sister and I were being scolded for being so lazy since we didn't help him while he was calling our name. So he ended up hot headed he was so noisy and kept telling us that we were so focused on our studies and in the first time he uttered the word you should graduate as " Magna Cum Laude". But I just walked away and didn't mind him since he was mad at that time.

When we were eating our lunch, he mentioned if we could cook a "humba" since they had an errand to go. I just said yes even though, I've never tried to cook a humba. I also didn't like what it tasted like; it's full of oil because of the fats.

I fried the pork and put them all on the pan but the pan filled with so much water and I was thinking if the oil that I put in the pan is water but I trust the process. Since the pan filled with pork, I divided it into 2 batches so it would just be easy for me to flip it on the side. I observe first, if it will turn into oil and it will.

I just fried it a little bit, just like this in the picture. I am not sure if I would take it from the pan but as I saw on the internet it looks like this, I just believe in myself that it would turn yummy.

Then, fry the aromatics and if it will turn to golden brown add the pork and then put the seasonings on it. I was nervous if it turned delicious but I kept putting some seasoning on it just like what I saw on the internet.

Ingredients

Soy sauce
Vinegar
Pepper
Salt(optional)
Magic sarap
Sugar
Softdrinks
Water

I keep adding water on the pan since the pork was a little chewy so I added some seasonings to make it tasty. And this is what the final product looks like, the oil was visible.

Thank you for the reminder! I just want to clarify — does this rule apply to every post I make? I’m not new to this community, and I’ve already shared some blogs here.

Wow. This is one of my favorite😍 I like humba very much on a hot rice

Same here! Humba with hot rice is really the best combo 😋 Even though it was my first time cooking it, I’m glad it turned out okay

Oh my, I miss Humba naaaa. Especially Mama's version. It looks so unhealthy and masarappppp, omg. Haha. Kakatakot mga fats haha

Haha true! The fats really make it scary but that’s also what makes it tasty 😂 Nothing beats mama’s version though
