Plantain arepas with oats [ENG/ ESP]

Friends of good food, today I bring you this simple but delicious recipe, a different way to eat arepas without breaking our healthy diet.

We know that there are many ways to prepare delicious dishes with this ingredient, such as plantains. Recently, I shared some delicious empanadas, and today it's arepas' turn, but with an extra ingredient.

The ingredients were:

  • 2 green plantains
  • 3 tablespoons of oatmeal
  • Salt to taste

As you can see, with just a few ingredients that are easy to find, let's see how I made them.

Preparation:

The first thing I did was peel our bananas and place them in a small pot with water to cook and soften them a little.

Once this was done, we proceeded to mash them. I chose to grate them, which is more work, but I don't know, it's up to each person. You can use a potato masher; the important thing is that they are well mashed, almost like a dough.

Once the banana has been mashed, add the oat flour and begin to knead as you would normally, as if you were making arepa flour.

This is how it will look after kneading it well, once the oatmeal has dissolved. Another tip is that you can add a little water to soften it and make it easier to knead.

Once our dough is ready, we place it in a small pan, previously heated with a little oil, so that our arepas brown and fry, and this is how they should look.👇

They really are delicious, and as I said, they're a different way to eat our arepas. You can add flaxseed or chia to the dough, and they're super healthy. I really liked how fluffy they turned out. 😋

Amigos de la buena comida, hoy les traigo esta receta sencilla, pero deliciosa, una forma diferente de comer arepa, sin romper nuestra dieta saludable.

Bien sabemos que hay muchas formas de preparar ricos platos con este ingrediente, como lo es el plátano, hace poco compartí unas ricas empanadas, hoy le toco a las arepas, pero con un ingrediente extra.

Ahora los ingredientes fueron:

  • 2 plátanos verdes
  • 3 cucharadas de harina de avena
  • Sal al gusto

Como ven, con pocos ingredientes, y fáciles de conseguir, veamos como las hice.

Preparación:

Lo primero que hice fue tomar nuestro plátano y pelarlos, para luego colocarlos en una olla pequeña, con agua, para que se cocinen y así se ablanden un poco.

Ya con esto, procedemos a triturarlos, yo opte por rallarlos, me sale más trabajo, pero no sé, es cuestión de cada quien, pueden usar una pisa papas, lo importante es que queden bien triturados, como casi una masa.

Una vez triturado el plátano, le añadimos nuestra harina de avena, y comenzamos a amasar, tipo normal, como si fuese con la harina para arepas.

Así nos va a quedar, luego de amasarla bien, que se disuelva la harina de avena, otro dato, es que pueden ir agregándole un poco de agua, para que se ablande, y puedan ir amasando.

Una vez tenemos nuestra masa lista, procedemos a colocarla en un pequeño sartén, previamente calentado con poco aceite, para que se doren y sofríen nuestras arepas, y así nos quedarían.👇

La verdad quedan muy rica, y como dije una forma distinta de comer nuestras arepas, se les puede añadir linaza o Chía a nuestra masa, y quedan supersaludables, a mí me gustaron mucho, lo esponjosa que quedaron. 😋
