One of my favorite things during Ramadhan is fasting. Fasting is very special for me because I rarely fast when it's not Ramadhan. You can see from my slightly chubby body shape that food is the happiest thing in my daily life. Likewise, if I fast, I have to hold back my thirst and hunger for 14 hours.
During Ramadhan, fasting is a mandatory worship, so I don't want to waste my time not fasting. That is the bare minimum in my belief as a Muslim. But, there is something even more enjoyable, that Ramadhan is the time for you to get closer to your family.
Several times I refused my friends' invitations to have iftar at a restaurant and preferred to eat with my extended family (I still have my mother, father and younger sibling) and we have iftar together every day. My wife is a chef and she cooks a lot for us. She does whatever she can to prepare some special menus, one of which is this iftar menu. We will discuss a little about what menus are available today.
Fried squid in flour, one of the things I have requested as a form of gratitude because we have been given a place to live that has a much larger ocean area than land. Squid can be easily obtained and cooked simply, if you give it flour like making fried chicken at McDonald's or KFC, you can also coat it in flour and fry it with squid.
Flour squid is very delicious when eaten with warm rice. Simple with a perfect taste. Everyone likes it, even a 3 year old child will really like this menu.
Well, there is one special menu, special fried noodles. No, this was given by our neighbor next door. Like barter, this morning he asked for a little lettuce that had to be harvested, so, in return, this afternoon he gave me a bowl of noodles that was enough for 5 servings. How much is this, it turns out he even gave special fried noodles with fish balls and squid. My wife said, in the traditional market there are many sellers of fresh squid.
Dessert! I really loved this. One of the foods with high fiber, we call it avocado sago. Given Thai sago which is shaped like small boiled seeds and gets like boba, given fatty avocado pieces and added with milk and nata de coco. This is the mood booster this time. Wait, there is a little chia seed to add a thicker texture to this dessert. Added with ice cubes will be very appetizing.
Then there are some other foods cooked by my mother, because my father is a bit strict with his food so the menu is only added as needed. But, this is very delicious, with takjil which turned out to be given by my other neighbors. Ramadhan is a moment of sharing that really strengthens the relationship between neighbors.
