Sorting Some Lego

in Toys on Hive3 months ago

Okay, it's not Lego, it's Mega Bloks, or Construx, or whatever they're called now; Lego is just quicker to say.

I've been going through those bags I got recently, and I have to say, I have no idea what the hell is there, but it is a stupidly large collection, not including the already-built stuff.

Here is a box of parts, which is part of a set called Countdown, which is kind of a launchpad/ base for the Sabre to sit on.

It is a fairly large process, sorting this stuff out, and the way it feels now, I'm kind of thinking of just selling the bags as is, and letting someone else go through them.

I mean, on the one hand, the fun of running this treasure hunt of sorts, seeing what sets and vehicles are there, trying to identify them based on strange-looking parts, and then routing out manuals for them, is fun. But, it's a process and a half, and sadly, I don't really have the time to fully dedicate myself to it.

For the time being though, I'll power through and see what I can do.

This is another small box, with some pieces of a Banshee that I'm also compiling.

It's good that these sets follow a fairly okay colour scheme; if it's purple and silver, it's the Aliens, and if it's a shade of green or dark blue, it's Humans.

I decided to colour coordinate them as such, and have done well, at around 90% certainty. But, now, rather than simply separating into two groups and having two huge lots to go through, I'm instead coordinating by shade, and while it's taking longer, I think it should turn out better when building, and finding pieces.

I have this bag for unusual, and less common colours.

I think whatever these sets are will be much easier to arrange and build, because they'll be a hell of a lot more noticeable, compared to the typical colours that are used in this collection.

I have these two medium-sized baggies, which I will use for smaller 1 size pieces, which might help organise the more small, obscure pieces.

I decided to start with the UNSC stuff to begin with, and ended up with a few small piles, which quickly got so large that they needed some bags of their own, because there wasn't enough room on the table for them.

As I opened the bag I found this, which is actually apart of the Countdown set I'm searching for.

I downloaded a PDF manual for a few of the things I think are in here.

You can see the headlight at the top of the scaffolding. Funny enough, I have a box filled with what are vehicle parts, and I actually put one of these lights in there because I thought it was the headlight of a car.

Each time I empty a bag I find more things like this, figures, props, plants, and accessories in general.

I managed to find the leg of one of the elites who I picked up during the first initial purchase.

I found this in one of the bags too.

I have no idea what Covenant vehicles are in this set, other than the three Banshee's, but, upon finding this, I'm starting to think there could be a Phantom Dropship.

The reason I think this, is because of the sheer amount of purple, and silver Lego, compared to the UNSC stuff, and I still have a few bags to sort through.

I found a stand in one of the bags, which is cool, as I actually have the guy without his stand sitting in one of the bags.

I'm finding a lot of random body pieces, mainly arms, so I'm assuming I should come across a good few broken figures fairly soon.

I managed to get through 4 of the bags, so have another 3 to go, hopefully, by the time the final one is sorted, I should be able to identify pieces easier and get some of these vehicles built so that I can cut down on the sheer amount of loose Lego.

7KG of the stuff is enough to discourage even big professional Lego lovers; I'm a fan of Lego, but I've never dealt with a situation like this before, wish me luck.

hahah good luck buddy! Hopefully you do find enough that you can complete a set or two!

Here's hoping man, I think it'll get easier as I manage to build them, but my god, my morale is waining haha

ewww mega blocks.....

Hahaha, I managed to get a huge lot of it in a charity shop, immense collection, a lot of the vehicles are complete and it's all Halo stuff.

oh nice the halo brand might help for sure. Rebuilding sets from random lego boxes is hard work though

It has been tough, but luckily, there aren't too many colour schemes, which seems to have helped a lot.

Currently trying to rebuild the Wall-e set......hello grey bits!
