So, it was an early start for me and my dad. We both get up fairly early - around 7ish - and right from the start of the day we both got cracking with the cleaning, to finish off the house for the party.
We had done nearly all of the work the night before, but still had to hoover, and mop the floors, as well as lump a few things around, and tidy in general, and I put together the BBQ thing he bought and literally finished it before leaving for the church.
As I was assembling the BBQ I was playing some music on a speaker outside. Linkin Park mostly, and a few other bands. It makes things go a lot quicker when you're listening to a few tunes.
I had a shower and wrote a Hive post while taking a break around 10 o'clock and I was dressed and ready to go, apart from my shirt and tie, which I didn't want to put on while working on getting stuff together.
Aimee, her mum, and the baby arrived around 12:10, and my mum arrived up with some food around the same time, and my sisters boyfriends family arrived a little bit after that.
This isn't the church the Christening was at, but it looks very similar to this one.
The Church
The service was nice, and being in a church for something good is also nice. Over the last few years it has only really been funerals; the last time I was at a wedding was about 9 years ago.
I was the godfather, and my sister's partner's sister was the godmother. I went up on stage and lit the candle alongside the other godfathers, which was cool, and we all said a few prayers and went up on stage as the babies were getting the holy water on them. My niece was the only one to cry for it, but she seemed to calm down when the water went on.
6 babies were being christened and the church was fairly full with all the families and friends.
There was a lot more empties in the house and garden than this, and I would have taken a picture, but didn't feel capable.
My auntie called around to give my mum a lift home, and she helped whip everyone into shape and get the house cleaned. Within about 30 minutes, the place was back to normal.
The After's
We all came back to the house, and it looked really nice. As the day went on the place got more and more trashed, however, which is normal for a party of that magnitude.
I'd say there were about 40 - 50 people at it, and we were all fairly surprised by the amount of people the house and garden could hold.
The weather stayed good, and it was a great chance to catch up with friends and family, who we hadn't seen in a while. Everyone was mixing and mingling which is great.
Me and Aimee brought Kaleb in around 9:30/ 10, and he fell asleep about an hour later, then me and Aimee made tea, and hung out with the drunken stragglers, and then turned in.
We woke up this morning, and it was literally like the scene out of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, where Johnny Depp wakes up in the hotel room and tries to piece together the night before.
After a coffee, and after Kaleb had his breakfast and a few bottles, we went out for a walk and ended up getting some lunch down in one of the pubs. It was a nice way to start the day and cure the hangover.
