Czy Jordańskie piwo "Petra" to piwo?
Just this week, I had the opportunity to visit an Arab country, namely Jordan. It's no secret that I'm a beer connoisseur, and I wouldn't be myself if I didn't try the local beer.
Jeszcze w tym tygodniu miałem okazję odwiedzić kraj arabski, a mianowicie Jordanię. Wiadomo, że jestem smakoszem piwa i nie byłbym sobą, gdybym nie spróbował regionalnego piwa.
Although buying any alcohol in Jordan is a challenge, as it's an Arab country that prohibits alcohol consumption, I managed to do so.
Choć kupno jakiegokolwiek alkoholu w Jordanii jest problemem, bo to kraj arabski zakazujący spożywania alkoholu, to jednak udało mi się to zrobić.

It wasn't easy, as alcohol is only available in a few regions of the country. In the north, in Amman, 40 km away in Madaba, and then only in the very south, in Aqaba, 320 km from the Jordanian capital, Amman.
Nie było to łatwe, bo alkohol jest dostępny tylko w kilku regionach kraju. Na północy w mieście Amman, oddalony od niego o 40 km mieście Madaba, a potem dopiero na samym południu w Akabie, czyli 320 km od stolicy Jordanii - Ammanu.
I managed, and I got my hands on a beer called "Petra," named after the famous ruins of the Nabataean city. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a bottled version, so I had to buy a can, which I don't do.
Udało się, i dorwałem piwo o nazwie "Petra", czyli tak jak słynne ruiny miasta Nabatejczyków. Niestety wersji butelkowej nie znalazłem, więc musiałem nabyć piwo w puszce, czego nie praktykuję.
Of course, I couldn't resist a delicious Jordanian dinner, where we were treated to roast chicken, goat, and a plethora of sauces and salads.
Oczywiście nie mogłem sobie odmówić przepysznej jordańskiej kolacji, gdzie uraczono nas pieczonym kurczakiem, koziną i mnóstwem sosów i sałatek.
The beer itself is more of a marketing gimmick, as the can features the outline of the Petra temple, not the actual drink. The beer is available in three versions, the weakest of which has 8% ABV. I tried the 10% version, and there's also a 13% version. The latter is a joke, as that's the alcohol content of wine.
Samo piwo to bardziej chwyt marketingowy, bo na puszce widnieje zarys świątyni "Petra", a nie napój. Piwo występuje w trzech wersjach, z czego najsłabsza ma 8% alkoholu, ja testowałem wersję 10% a jest jeszcze wersja 13%. Ta ostatnia to jakiś żart, bo tyle procent alkoholu to ma wino.
I can sum up the beer in one sentence. Produced in Jordan by Heineken, the beer called "Petra" has nothing in common with beer. Despite the hops and malt, you can detect an aggressive addition of foreign alcohol, which makes drinking it even cold, mouth-watering. I don't recommend it.
Piwo mogę skwitować w jednym zdaniu. Produkowane w Jordanii przez koncern Heineken piwo o nazwie "Petra" nie ma nic wspólnego z piwem, pomimo zawartości chmielu i słodu wyczuwa się agresywny dodatek obcego alkoholu, co powoduje, ze nawet jak trunek jest zimny, to jego spożywanie wykręca gębę. Nie polecam.
