[ESP] | [ENG] - Celebrando el Día Mundial de la AREPA

El segundo Sábado de Septiembre se celebra el Día Mundial de la Arepa, un evento global que busca promover este plato venezolano, realzando su importancia como símbolo de nuestra identidad cultural. Obviamente, como buena Venezolana Foodie no podía dejar de celebrar este día así que fui a mi arepera de confianza por unas arepas sustanciosas que, además, me ayudaran a aplacar el hambre. La Arepera 7 de Oro es relativamente nueva. Abrió sus puertas a inicios de año y ha sido todo un boom con sus arepas de diferentes rellenos que no dejan mal a absolutamente nadie.

Debo aceptar que pedir dos arepas para comer en el lugar fue una completa exageración de mi parte, pero realmente tenía hambre pues ya me había pasado la hora del almuerzo y, además, había terminado de realizar mi rutina de piernas en el gimnasio...y, ustedes saben, el entrenamiento de piernas es bastante exigente y uno tiene que alimentarse bien (ja, ja, ja).

The second Saturday in September is World Arepa Day, a global event that seeks to promote this Venezuelan dish, highlighting its importance as a symbol of our cultural identity. Obviously, as a good Venezuelan foodie, I couldn't miss out on celebrating this day, so I went to my favorite arepa restaurant for some hearty arepas that would also help satisfy my hunger. Arepera 7 de Oro is relatively new. It opened its doors at the beginning of the year and has been a huge hit with its arepas with different fillings that leave absolutely no one disappointed.

I must admit that ordering two arepas to eat there was a complete exaggeration on my part, but I was really hungry because it was past lunchtime and I had just finished my leg workout at the gym...and, you know, leg training is quite demanding and you have to eat well (ha, ha, ha).

Pedí dos arepas, una con relleno de Ensalada de Camarón porque últimamente he estado un poco obsesionada con los camarones y, la segunda arepa, era una Catira como solemos llamar a las que están rellenas con pollo desmenuzado y queso amarillo, una combinación que en lo personal me gusta mucho. No recordaba que la Ensalada de Camarones llevaba aguacate, así que dado que no soy muy fanática de él pues se me hizo un tanto complicado disfrutar de esta arepa al 100%, sin embargo, el potente sabor de la mantequilla lo disfrazaba un poco.

En día posteriores visité nuevamente esta arepera y pedí una Arepa Rumbera para desayunar. Esta consta de relleno de pernil con queso amarillo, una combinación que crea un muy buen contraste entre lo salado del pernil con lo cremoso del queso amarillo, ¡una verdadera delicia! Creo que lo único negativo de este lugar, al menos para mí, es que las opciones de café son de máquina instantánea y no de máquina de espresso. De hecho, el café instantáneo San Domingo no es uno de mis favoritos, demasiada azúcar y muy poca cafeína para mi gusto, pero bueno, no estuvo mal esa opción para acompañar a la Arepa Rumbera.

I ordered two arepas, one filled with shrimp salad because I've been a bit obsessed with shrimp lately, and the second arepa was a Catira, as we usually call those filled with shredded chicken and yellow cheese, a combination that I personally really like. I didn't remember that the shrimp salad had avocado in it, and since I'm not a big fan of avocado, it was a little difficult for me to enjoy this arepa 100%. However, the strong flavor of the butter disguised it a little.

A few days later, I visited this arepa restaurant again and ordered an Arepa Rumbera for breakfast. It consists of pork filling with yellow cheese, a combination that creates a very good contrast between the saltiness of the pork and the creaminess of the yellow cheese—a real treat! I think the only negative thing about this place, at least for me, is that the coffee options are from an instant machine and not an espresso machine. In fact, San Domingo instant coffee is not one of my favorites, too much sugar and too little caffeine for my taste, but hey, it wasn't a bad option to accompany the Arepa Rumbera.
