Strawberries - who doesn't enjoy them? Exactly, I actually don't know anyone who doesn't like these juicy little fruits! Nowadays you can find them in the stores all year round, but the real strawberry season is actually in spring. Right now, in other words, and you may have noticed that when you go to the supermarket or fruit store these days. The selection has become noticeably larger and the prices a little lower.
It's supply and demand, and these days the supply has increased significantly. And that applies not only to the producers but also to the varieties, of which there seem to be many more than I was aware of. To be honest, I can't call myself a strawberry expert, I just eat whatever is put in front of me.
But the fact that there are also differences in color was quite new to me, because for me the classic strawberry clearly has only one color - RED!
But as you can see, there are other options. There are also white strawberries, which is probably the result of resourceful breeding. They also look pretty interesting and of course I didn't want to miss out on the opportunity to try them. So I invited both red and white onto my plate, from where there was then no escape for them.
Well, in the end the result was clear. Red definitely won, just as I had expected. As usual, this is rather subjective and always depends on the individual berry, but I wasn't convinced by white. Even though the white berry tasted of strawberry, it was still missing something. Not sweet and juicy enough, and somehow white tasted less strawberry-like than red, which disappeared into my mouth and stomach that day without any complaint.
As I said, the whole matter is subjective and can be refuted at any time. But if I ever have to make a decision in the future, I will definitely go for the red berry. Even if I would of course give white another chance at any time. Because...why not?!

Erdbeeren - wer mag die denn nicht? Genau, eigentlich kenne ich keinen, dem diese saftigen kleinen Dinger nicht schmecken! Heutzutage bekommt man diese zwar das ganze Jahr über in den Geschäften, aber die richtige Erdbeersaison ist eigentlich im Frühjahr. Also genau jetzt, und das merkt man sofort, wenn man in den Supermarkt oder in den Obstladen geht. Die Auswahl ist merklich größer geworden und die Preise dafür etwas tiefer.
Angebot und Nachfrage halt, und in diesen Tagen ist nun mal das Angebot deutlich größer geworden. Und das gilt nicht nur für den Anbieter sondern auch für die Sorte, von denen es viel merh zu geben scheint, als mir bewusst war. Denn ehrlich genommen, kann ich mich nicht als Erdbeerexperten bezeichnen, sondern esse diesbezüglich einfach alles, was man mir vorsetzt.
Aber das es auch farblich Unterschiede gibt, war mir auch neu, denn für mich hat die klassische Erdbeere ganz klar eine Farbe - ROT!
Aber wier ihr seht, geht es auch anders. Es gibt auch weiße Erdbeeren, wofür wohl wieder einmal findige Züchter gesorgt haben. Optisch sehen diese auch ziemlich interessant aus und den Geschmackstest wollte ich mir natürlich nicht entgehen lassen. Deshalb habe ich Rot und Weiß beide auf meinen Teller eingeladen, von wo es dann für sie kein Entkommenmehr gab.
Nun ja, das Ergebnis war dann letztendlich deutlich. Rot gewinnt ganz klar, wie ich es wohl aiuch erwartet hatte. Wie üblich ist das zwar subjektiv und immer auch von der einzelnen Beere abhängig, aber Weiß konnte mich nicht überzeugen. Denn auch die weiße Beere auch nach Erdbeere schmeckte, fehlte doch etwas. Ein wenig zu wenig süß und saftig, und irgendwie schmeckte Weiß weniger nach Erdbeere als Rot, welches an jenem Tag ohne Beanstandungen in meinem Mund und Magen verschwunden ist.
Wie gesagt, das Ganze ist subjektiv und kann jederzeit widerlegt werden. Aber falls ich mich in Zukunft einmal entscheiden sollte, werde ich mit Sicherheit zur roten Beere greifen. Auch wenn ich natürlich Weiß jederzeit eine weitere Chance geben würde. Warum auch nicht?
