Quick question: is there any food you disliked, but as time went on, you found yourself liking it and eating it more often? Growing up, I never liked macaroni... None of my siblings did until my recipe came into the picture hehe. I remember the first time my mum bought it from the store and gave us to prepare. My big sis prepared it and nobody even touched it Hahaha.
Fast forward to years later, I went to my friend's place, and she made it, and it still tasted awful.
When I moved to Port Harcourt, my aunt's kids were obsessed with it, so that meant I had to prepare it almost every night for dinner. I tried different recipes but they didn't sit right with me. I finally tried a simple one and guys!!! It was so nice.
Whenever I crave macaroni, I make it myself because only then can I eat it comfortably without wanting to throw up lol
The ingredients are quite simple;
Onion
Fresh pepper
Salt
Seasoning cube
Curry/thyme
Crayfish
Fresh egg
Vegetable oil
Tomatoes
And the star of the show Macaroni( I only cooked half of the pack
Step one, parboil your macaroni, make sure it doesn't get too soft, you want it to be chewy not extra soft ( because we're going to cook a little more again inside the sauce)
Remove from fire, strain, and set aside.
Step three: pour your oil into your pan, add your onion, allow to fry until golden brown, add your tomatoes, and fry until well cooked. Now you can add your pepper, seasoning cube, salt, spices and crayfish. Add a little water to the mixture and allow to cook, make sure to taste if the ingredients are enough. I forgot to take a picture of the sauce 😔
Step four, now add your macaroni into the pot, add a little more water, just enough so the sauce won't get burnt. Reduce your gas to almost the lowest and allow it to slowly cook until everything is fully combined. I love eggs, so sometimes I break my fresh egg into the macaroni and mix it to cook; trust me, it gives it a different taste overall. My house was smelling so niceeee☺️.... I made more than enough and since I'm the only one at home, my roommate is yet to resume, so I'll be eating the rest for breakfast tomorrow morning.
