RE: Quick rainy day meal

in Foodies Bee Hive2 days ago

We could do with some rain here in Alsace it is parched and still boiling hot. Linda and I are leaving early as she cannot cope with the heat anymore.

Flying out of Zurich tomorrow. Natalie is going onwards with the kids.

I might try this recipe when I get home it looks tasty. 👍

I'm amazed Linda can function at all in the heat. I know my temperature range is extremely narrow before I turn into a turnip.

Safe travels home.

Thanks Mel, Linda is basically house bound at this point. This trip has shown that she has zero strength left. We had to buy her a walking frame on wheels just for her to stand up.
I'll get us home and hopefully she will feel a little better. Fingers crossed 🤞

I'm not far behind her. I can still transfer from my lift chair to my mobility scooter, but can't stand. I have a hydrolic toilet seat lift, and a hydrolic lift that my daughter uses to get me up off the floor when I fall.
I'm beginning to notice changes in vision. MS sucks.
You have your hands full. I'm sorry
Like me, this is not the way either of you expected to spend your retirement years.

There is something strange going on with our generation. I've never seen or heard of so many people with so many major illnesses.

Auto immune diseases seem to have come out of nowhere and affect so many people of our age. Most of Linda's friends have similar issues.

Linda also has lymphedema with swelling all over her. She found out from a nurse who pointed it out. Checking Linda's medical records it appears it was diagnosed in 2017 but nobody thought to tell her!

I was flabbergasted and she thought she was going mad with all the weight gains. It makes you want to scream.

Controversial opinion I know but I don't think all those nuclear bomb tests in the 50's 60's and onward did us much good?

Definitely not the retirement we expected. It's 3.38 a.m. and I'm wide awake. I've got to make that flight tomorrow and get her safely home.

Your daughter is a godsend as is ours. What would we do without them. 😘

You have definitely given me something to think about. I was considering the lack of sunlight and vitamin D in our long Winters, the hepatitis B vaccine that I received in a group of travel shots, but I actually had never thought about the nuclear testing. That would certainly make sense.

Hope you are getting settled in at home and both of you are feeling more comfortable.

Unfortunately our flight got cancelled so we are staying overnight at the radisson blu by the airport. Sod's law is in full effect.

I've stayed overnight at a hotel at the Zurich airport... But by choice of convenience, not necessity.

Travel these days, canceled flights and all, almost make me ok with being housebound. 😕

The hotel is lovely just wished the flight wasn't cancelled.
I'm also happy being a home body. Travelling isn't as much fun as it used to be. Nothing seems to work anymore and when a problem arises all we get are chat bots to try to resolve the issue...it just doesn't work.
