🏙️Still visiting Oviedo, Asturias—my dear friend’s home. Today’s plan: heading to her go-to local bar for 'vermouth hour' and an appetizer, followed by a long stroll around the city.
🌇Sigo de visita en la ciudad de Oviedo, Asturias, el hogar de mi querida amiga. Hoy el plan fue ir a su bar de confianza a la hora del Vermut para tomar un aperitivo y luego irnos a caminar.
🏙️Perks of traveling with an art historian: having a built-in VIP tour guide! Since Oviedo is her city, I feel so lucky to explore these streets while listening to her share the history and curiosities behind every spot. There’s nothing like seeing a place through the eyes of someone so passionate about what they do.
🌇Una de las razones por las que me encanta salir con mi amiga es que ella asume el rol de guía turística VIP sin que yo se lo pida. Es historiadora del arte y, sumado a que esta es su ciudad, la verdad me siento muy privilegiada de poder ir paseando mientras escucho alguien tan apasionada explicándome la historia y o los datos curiosos sobre cada lugar de interés (todos) por el que pasamos.
🏙️On Sundays, the bar we visited sets up a cheese spread for guests to sample. We paired the tasting with some delicious cocktails and had the loveliest time, savoring amazing Asturian cheeses and sipping on the mixologist’s creative work. The place is called Mona Lisa, located on Oviedo’s famous 'Ruta de los Vinos' (The Wine Route). We’ve been back a few times this week for bites, and everything is absolutely delicious 😋👌.
🌇En el bar al que fuimos ponen barra de quesos para probar los domingos. Junto con la muestra para probar nos pedimos cada una un delicioso cóctel y allí pasamos un ratito muy agradable, probando quesos asturianos deliciosos y bebiendo de la obra creativa del barista coctelero. El lugar se llama Mona Lisa y se encuentra en la famosa Ruta de los Vinos de Oviedo. Hemos ido a comer y picar allí varias veces en estos días y todo está delicioso 😋👌.
🏙️The weather was all over the place during our stroll. It started with gorgeous sunshine, but then the grey clouds rolled in. While we were walking through the old Law Faculty at the University of Oviedo, we were caught in a heavy downpour instead of the light drizzle I was expecting! We ran back to the 'Ruta de los Vinos' to take cover and have a delicious, comforting lunch (more photos of that coming soon). We finished the day in the best way possible: lounging on the sofa, watching a K-drama, and petting her kitty ( ◜‿◝ )♡.
🌇Durante nuestro paseo, el clima varió muchísimo. Primero hizo un sol espléndido, luego empezaron a llegar las nubes grises y, mientras caminábamos por la antigua Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Oviedo, nos sorprendió un aguacero fuerte en lugar de la llovizna que yo esperaba. Volvimos huyendo de la lluvia a la Ruta de los Vinos para resguardarnos y disfrutar de un almuerzo delicioso y reconfortante (subiré más fotitos en un futuro post). Después, caminamos un poco más y regresamos a casa para pasar el resto de la tarde relajadas en el sofá, viendo un K-drama y acariciando a su gatito ( ◜‿◝ )♡.
🏙️These past few days have been so special, and this Sunday in particular was just sublime and peaceful... one of those days that are truly healing for the soul.
