Good morning, hive, and happy second day of the year, I promise. Here I am to tell you about my delightful New Year's Eve evening. After getting ready with makeup, hair, and a slightly more elegant outfit than usual, my husband and I headed to a couple of friends who live about half an hour away. As soon as we arrived, we exchanged the usual greetings and then sat down at the table. For the occasion, our friends had prepared a truly sumptuous dinner. The highlight was Chicharrónes, a South American dish made with bacon fried in fat or lard. I didn't quite understand the process, but the smell of this dish was truly special as soon as we arrived! So we set the table while waiting for everything to be ready, also putting out various condiments, guacamole, caramelized onions, coleslaw, and of course water and beer to drink. Then we enjoyed an excellent menu for the first course: a delicate gorgonzola and radicchio risotto, one of my favorites during the winter season. Then for the main course, of course, the chicharrones with a side of savory pie with mushrooms and cheese, and the chicharrones accompanied by guacamole and onions, a spectacular flavor, especially with the guacamole on top! I'd never tried them because I don't eat pork often.

Después de maquillarnos, peinarnos y ponernos un poco más elegantes de lo habitual, mi esposo y yo fuimos a casa de unos amigos que viven a media hora de distancia. En cuanto llegamos, intercambiamos los saludos de siempre y nos sentamos a la mesa. Para la ocasión, nuestros amigos habían preparado una cena realmente suntuosa. El plato estrella fueron los chicharrones, un plato sudamericano hecho con tocino frito en grasa o manteca de cerdo. No entendí bien el proceso, ¡pero el olor de este plato fue realmente especial en cuanto llegamos! Así que pusimos la mesa mientras esperábamos a que todo estuviera listo, y también preparamos varios condimentos, guacamole, cebollas caramelizadas, ensalada de col y, por supuesto, agua y cerveza para beber. Después, disfrutamos de un excelente menú de primer plato: un delicado risotto de gorgonzola y radicchio, uno de mis favoritos durante el invierno. After dinner, we were so full and satisfied, we didn't even touch dessert and left some leftovers. We then decided to ring in the New Year in a simple way, something many Italians actually do. We tuned in to the New Year's concert on TV, where various old and new artists performed. Then we counted down and opened the champagne! It was a simple and pleasant end to the year. Afterwards, we went for a walk to work off the food, but unfortunately, it was too cold to stay out for long; they live in the mountains, and it's really cold in the evenings. How did you celebrate? Después de cenar, estábamos tan llenos y satisfechos que ni siquiera probamos el postre y sobramos. Decidimos celebrar el Año Nuevo de forma sencilla, algo que muchos italianos hacen. Vimos el concierto de Año Nuevo por televisión, donde actuaron varios artistas, tanto antiguos como nuevos. ¡Luego hicimos la cuenta regresiva y abrimos el champán! Fue un final de año sencillo y agradable.
