Perfect weather for slow cookers, pot roasts and oven roasts
Making the most of the cold winter days, we decided to make a beef roast. This is a recipe I have been making for many years (one from my late mother's recipe book) - perfect for the weekend
First seal the meat in a pot with olive oil, making sure it's brown on all sides
Transfer to the slow cooker.
In the same pot - braise the sliced onions and add salt and pepper and some origanum.
Next add to the slow cooker around the meat.
Once the meat has cooked for 2 hours (on high heat) - add a half a small bottle of rose wine. When cooked the flavour is absolutely marvellous.

In the meantime boil some baby potatoes until you can pierce with a knife or a fork.
Scratch them with a fork and place on a baking sheet.
Boil the baby potatoes
And Voila the finished meal
Absolutely nothing to beat roast meat with roast potatoes and a green vegetable
The gravy from the cooked dish is delicious with the rose wine and onion.
