I can't remember which blog I mentioned this but I love the neighborhood we moved into a little over a year ago. Despite tons of comments of it being a cheap neighborhood; I find it very convenient, peaceful and fulfilling to stay here. Top reason I could think to suggest this neighborhood is its access to basic needs such as supermarkets and restaurants. And speaking of restaurants, there's a new short strip adjacent to the main Paseo building housing Metro Supermarket. In the new strip, 4-5 small spaces were added to the wide selection of food hubs.
One evening, we dropped by Paseo to get dinner. In the parking lot, we saw well-lighted stalls that were new to us. We walked towards the most well-lit store and found out they're selling lasagna. I'm a huge fan of lasagna or any pasta for that matter. Without hesitation, we walked in and was welcome with a simple yet warm atmosphere. There's nothing special about the interior of Cebu Lasagna. It was straightforward, just seats and tables that could comfortable accommodate 15-20 person max.
They have very limited food choice, so you won't have a hard time deciding what to order. This gave me the notion of them having a specialized menu. "The food must be damn good!" I told myself. Order taking was smooth but not the warmest. I think it was the owners who got our orders; they weren't as hospitable as expected from a customer-facing custodian. With this, our experience wasn't the best. Aside from lasagna, they're offering humba and beef stir fry. We ordered humba and beef stir fry with lasagan. I was really hoping and exited to try their lasagna. It didn't take long for our orders to be served; I jumped into tasting the lasagna right away and the excitement turned into a moment of disappointment. It wasn't near any of the best lasagna I've tried in Cebu. And mind you, the best is from a famous fastfood chain in the Philippines; how can a home-made lasagna not beat that, right? I moved into tasting the humba and beef, although they looked fantastic and mouth-watering, they were too salty for my liking.
I don't want to make a big deal of it; they must be tired after a long opening day but it's no excuse to not be nice to your customers especially that you're still new to the area. We didn't feel as welcomed. They could really improve on this part. My verdict of the food: it is acceptable but not something I will go back or crave in the future. I felt I was eating in an upgraded carenderia with nice space vibe, chair and tables but the food remains the same. Some carenderias offer an elevated food quality than this. I don't recommend Cebu Lasagna at all.
