Spanish Version Bellow

Today was a Wednesday that didn't go as planned at home, in any way. Almost everything we were planning to do was hindered by unforeseen events. It's one of those days that fulfills the idea that it's best to stop, take a breath, and move forward, accepting that plans have to be modified.

My brother was going to wash clothes, and he couldn't. The power went out, so everything that depends on that service was paralyzed. We went out to buy some food, thinking that the payment points work with batteries and wireless systems. But when we got to the market where we bought, they told us that there was no signal to connect to the bank. And it turns out that we don't have cash.

Nowadays, it's very rare for me to buy things paying with cash. And I've read that this is actually a worldwide trend. In some articles I read, they explained that there are places where you pay directly with your cell phone, and in others there are biometric payment systems. Or contactless payments (bracelets, watches, cards, etc.) are becoming more and more common.

In days like these, it is necessary to take things calmly. I remember a line from an old movie, in which a Native American advised a child with an adage from his nation, and said something like: “To face life calmly we have two rules. First, do not sweat over small things. Second, there are no big things.”

At the time it made me laugh, and I thought they could have summed it up by saying that it is not worth worrying about anything in this world, but I found it funny the way this character said it with extreme seriousness.

So, as soon as the electricity came back we started cooking, and I thought I would go out quickly to buy. As soon as I got the food ready, and my brother was taking care of the kitchen, it happened that it started to rain.

And considering how bad I was with the last flu, I refused to leave the house in the rain. In any case, the shopping is not so urgent, and we can leave it for tomorrow. That made my brother remember that sometimes it is better to heed these 'signs' of not doing or not going to certain places at a particular time.

At least, we were able to finish the meal we were cooking. We were worried that with the rains the electrical system would fail again, but we were lucky that it held up. I dedicated myself to checking on the computer what I had pending, and it seems that things have finally calmed down.

By the way, to calm my nerves, and also to cheer myself up a bit, it so happens that I chose a selection of music by the maestro Ennio Morricone. In my childhood, I became fond of his musical compositions because of the soundtracks he made for various films. Although I must say that the first one that comes to mind is “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” (1966). Music can always help to change the mood and energize the mind (personal smile).

Anyway, I'm off now, hoping that you are well and that we can read each other again in the near future.
