Eid al-Fitr is a victory for us Muslims after one month of fasting in the holy month of Ramadan. To welcome Eid al-Fitr, almost all Muslims have different traditions, but the atmosphere is still a pleasant atmosphere. A pleasant atmosphere must have something out of the ordinary that must be prepared so that this tradition is more memorable and becomes a special moment. So it is not surprising that one week before Eid al-Fitr arrives, every family is busy with various types of Eid al-Fitr food, either by buying it or making it themselves.

In preparing cakes for the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, there is one type of cake (snack) that has existed since the past until now and has become a regional specialty. The cake (snack) is still a kind of mandatory food that must be present during Eid al-Fitr, the food is called Emping. Here I want to share about how to make emping which in my area is the main menu during Eid al-Fitr. Emping is a snack cake that is usually served as a snack when gathering with family. Emping is made from rice flour, grated coconut, tapioca flour, salt, and kencur. All ingredients are mixed together and stirred until smooth, then use hot water to make it into a dough.

Once smooth, the process of making emping can be done. The dough that is ready is made into small balls and then pressed using a flat surface object such as a coffee plate.

After being pressed using a flat surface object, it is then lifted into a container and ready to be fried. The cooked emping will feel crispy and crunchy. When it has been fried completely, put it in a jar and the condition of the emping is cold or not hot. Do not cover the container when the chips are still hot or have just been fried.
