At Cafe Leo

"Weekend coffee is the best. It's like weekday coffee's hot friend." - Nanea Hoffman

I take my weekends seriously, and when I say seriously, there are two types of seriousness involved.

I always work on the weekends. Whether it be spending a bit of extra time behind the family business, our 3D printing gig, other small side gigs, or simply trying to figure out ways to improve my writing and overall content on Hive.

That's the productive part.

Then comes the seriousness of relaxation.

Rest is important too. You need to breathe, let all that stress out, and just sit in one place with an empty mind and a lighter shoulder. Whether it's spending some extra time with family members, a movie night, a bit of reading, or simply browsing through YouTube while sipping on a hot cup of coffee.

These activities are necessary too, especially when it comes to maintaining "balance".

At the end of the day, we work hard all week so that during our weekends we at least have some extra time for ourselves and our loved ones. The goal isn't always status, luxury items, and a ton of money in the bank. Some just prefer to stay busy during the weekdays, just so they can spend a bit of time with their loved ones, or by simply focusing on the things they love at the end of the week.

Today I was supposed to stay at home and sip on some instant coffee.

However, our 3D printing gig required a bit of attention. We haven't had a meeting in about 2 months or so. Thus, it was time for an update. So, my buddy and I decided to meet up, go for a walk, and have some coffee; while we discussed business and life.

Fortunately, my friend lived close by, so we decided to choose a nice cafe where we could get some good coffee and a bit of peace and quiet. He suggested we go for this new cafe that was just a few minutes away from our location, a new cafe named Cafe Leo.

So, at around 7 PM, we headed towards this new and fancy cafe.

It took us around 10 - 15 minutes to reach the cafe. Fortunately, it was fairly empty at that time.

So, that was definitely a good sign; especially for a Saturday evening.

We grabbed a table at a corner and started talking business, and soon enough it turned into a conversation about life, family, and relationships. My buddy has been stressed about his relationship, and some more issues back at home. For which he couldn't concentrate on work. He wanted my suggestions and wanted a solution for it.

Now, I'm no counselor in psychology, but life has taught me a thing or two. So, I went ahead and shared my experiences and methods; while we sipped on some Latte (yes, I didn't go for the usual cappuccino this time lol).

We went with a "little" fudge cake for dessert as well, which was decent I'd say.

We were there for an hour or so, and soon enough the crowd got bigger. So, we decided to head out.

I don't know what people saw in this cafe, it's overpriced, straight up. They charge almost double what other popular cafes charge. And at the end of the day, 8 out of 10 cafe's coffee tastes the same, since they all use the same coffee beans.

So, why would people choose this place?

It's not like this was the only cafe in the area. Within the neighboring 2 kilometers, there were at least three more "better" cafes, one of them being Tabaq. And some of you already know, how much of a big fan I am of Tabaq.

This place had a decent crowd too, and the team was understaffed as well.

Thus, for the price they're charging, I really expected better. I'm no coffee/cafe connoisseur, but I realize now why this place has a 2.5 rating out of 5 lol. For the money, this is the worst cafe in town, I'd say; I won't even hold back my words. For the same amount of money spent, I could've gotten at least two more top-notch sandwiches at Tabaq.

And some people call Tabaq overpriced lol. At least Tabaq's service, beverage, and food quality is unparalleled. They have an amazing track record too.

Maybe the food was just "alright" at Cafe Leo, but it's still food. I'm in no place to bash the food that's at the minimum edible. Yet, it is what it is; when considering the price and location of the cafe.

Well, That was it for my little weekend coffee experience. A bit disappointed? Yes!

Yet, at least the little walk and our conversations were good.

Cheers! ☕️

Refreshment and rest are important especially after the drudgery of the weekdays. It's good you found some time to relax and enjoy some good cups of coffee with a friend. I hope the weekend goes well for you so you begin the new week invigorated and energetic. Thanks for sharing this experience.

It's really the conversations and each other's company that make these moments so memorable. Even if the food was "decent", I don't mind; simply because the conversation was wholesome and productive.

Thanks for dropping by! ☕️

There must be something very peculiar about this coffee shop for it to be so popular.
Sometimes we just need to listen to our friends so that they can unburden themselves and feel understood.
Thank goodness you were able to share part of your experience and that is also very helpful.

I really don't know why it was so packed, even though the prices are absurd, and the rating is a mess too haha. I guess the people here don't care about the quality of food, nor the price.

At least our conversation went well. We headed out with some good ideas, that will be implemented into the business.

The major thing I want to take seriously on my weekends is enjoyment and relaxation
I don’t get to do it every weekend and it hurts. I have no time for enjoyment so I want to work on that

Well, last month I barely got any "me time" either. I have lowered my coffee shop visits as well. So, now is not my time I guess, but my chance will come, and so will yours.

Patience! 🙏

Hey there!
If you work a 9-5 weekday job, I understand how important weekends would be to you. However, for me, it's just like any other day because I work from my home boat.😁
Still, I'm pleased that you enjoyed the weekend.
That chocolate cake though! I am not big on chocolate, but I would have to take a bite.

Hey, Milly! How've you been? I hope you're doing well. It's been a while.

it's just like any other day because I work from my home boat

I bet the view is amazing every morning. 😏

Still, I'm pleased that you enjoyed the weekend.

I can't complain! I'm doing better than yesterday, so that surely means I'm doing something right.

That chocolate cake though! I am not big on chocolate, but I would have to take a bite.

Trust me, there are better options out there. Way better! 😂 If you ever plan to visit Dhaka, then I myself will take you to the best coffee shops we have. Of course, starting with Tabaq. My treat. 😁

Not all places are good and we always find places where we don't have a good time for one reason or another.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us.☕

Good day.

Crazy price tags for sub-par service and food, that's what I find absurd. The coffee was alright, even though there are much more popular coffee shops selling the same coffee for almost half the price.

I guess I don't fit in here, but some people seem to like it. To each their own.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Thanks for dropping by and for taking the time to share your thoughts. Cheers! ☕️

The virtue of rest is necessary for us humans, in our lives not everything should be work, we must set limits. I am the one who thinks, that true plenitude, It is what we decide to live without barriers. I hope you give yourself more days of rest and share a good cup.

I believe rest is important, but I am at such a stage in my life, where if I don't stay consistent and push the limits, then it'll be too late. That's why I've been working hard, most of the time towards failure. Alas, I still believe I can do better.

And I do try to balance it out with a bit of rest every now and then. I like my extra bit of beauty sleep haha.

I hope you give yourself more days of rest and share a good cup.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It truly means a lot.

Oh I see, you are in the stage of your definition, well I change my argument, fight for it to achieve what you set out to do in life. We all go there at some point. Good luck with that.

A few extra hours of sleep is good for you, it never hurts hahahaha.

Let the trips to the cafeteria continue and enjoy a good cup.

We all go there at some point. Good luck with that.

YESS SIRRR! We will definitely make it if we put in the effort.

Cheers! ☕️

Lady🤭, I think I'm going to change my profile photo, the athlete photo doesn't suit me, hahahaha

No, no, the yes-sir is just an expression of approval. Meaning that I agree with you haha. 😂

OMG, I figured otherwise. Anyway, I already changed my profile picture lol. Just in case, regards

Cheers! ☕️

Sometimes a café is a hit apparently out of the blue, but there's always a good reason behind the success of a place, even with bad and expensive coffee. I've seen it. Sometimes, it's because of the vibe of the place, the music, enough room in the parking lot, etc. I'm the kind of costumer that never comes back for a second round of disappointment anyway.

Nice photos ☕️

Sometimes, it's because of the vibe of the place, the music, enough room in the parking lot, etc.

Very true, I can't deny these points. Yet, for me, the most important part is the quality of food and service I'm getting for the price, and whether it is fair or not.

I'm the kind of costumer that never comes back for a second round of disappointment anyway.

That's the case for me as well. Never looking back! Unless something changes for the better. 😬
