Introduction
I haven't done a food post in a month so it's time to get one up. About a month ago on February 28, I went to Tonkatsu by Ma Maison @Main Place with my boss. The restaurant was kind of empty since we had an early dinner. The bright side though is that we got our food fast. We were kind of in a rush because we needed to attend a seminar that my dad was hosting for his E-book business.
Tonkatsu By Ma Maison @ Main Place
Tonkatsu By Ma Maison is a Japanese restaurant in Malaysia that specializes in tonkatsu. For those that don't know, Tonkatsu is breaded fried pork. This restaurant is actually a franchise and they have a decent amount of locations. I saw online that all of them were close to the 4.5 stars google review mark. The one I went to had 4.6 stars out of 1206 reviews. I find it interesting that they don't accept reservations so I assume they do get packed at certain times.
Ambience
I was able to get a picture of the inside. I took this on the way out so it looks like other people are starting to have their dinner now. Anyways the place was very quiet with some light music. The place gave Japanese vibes and they also had an open kitchen which I thought was cool.
Food
I don't have much food pictures this time. I just ordered one dish and it was the sakura tonkatsu because they had a promotion for it. I had to look up online about this because I never heard of Sakura Pork before. Sakura Pork is basically premium pork. It's kind of like spoiled pigs that get fed and treated a certain way kind of like for beef it would be wagyu. It was a nice dish that came with grapefruit, salad, rice, miso soup and a sauce.
Concluding Thoughts
I actually paid this time around but I couldn't find the receipt so I don't have a picture of it. If I recall if converted to USD, it was probably around 25 bucks. The food was delicious. The service was amazing. If you love tonkatsu and you live in Malaysia, you have to give this place a try.
