Delicious Sunday! Deconstructed Spam Musubi, Salmon Sisig, and My DIY Incense Holder!

I woke up a bit early today and as I switched on the television to watch news. There was a special program instead of the usual Sunday news show. Today was the trillion peso march. Let's hope all the efforts done by the people result to a better government.

I've decided that I'll be making spam musubi today. This is my second time making it. I think spam musubi is kind of popular with the younger generation based on what I see online. Well, spam tastes good and tastes even better when made into a spam musubi.

There's one problem, however. I didn't have nori sheets so I can't assemble it into an onigiri or sushi style. Meh. But that didn't stop me and went for something I'd call—deconstructed spam musubi. Lol!

Instead of making a flat layer of omelette, I rolled it and sliced into six pieces.

Then fried the spam. The sauce is very easy, it's just soy sauce, sugar, and mirin. You can also replace sugar with honey. It actually tastes better when you use honey instead of sugar.

Tadah! Of course, I also made fried rice to make the meal more special.

Aside from the mayo topping, I also sprinkled some egg-flavored furikake. I'm not actually sure if the furikake adds taste to the food but it adds a slight crunch and makes the food look more visually appealing.

Spam musubi is delicious but I don't think I would be making this food often because the sauce has lots of sugar in it and spam itself is a processed food.

Since I've decided I'm going to make this day special, I took out the salmon belly and made the food I've been craving for so long. Can you guess what dish I'm making with it?

Ah, of course, you've already read it on the thumbnail photo! Lol.

I've been making tofu sisig for the longest time and while tofu itself is healthy, it becomes unhealthy when you fry it because tofu absorbs lots of oil. Salmon belly only requires little oil because it will secrete its own oil as you fry it, plus, it's good fats. I also love the crunchy skin. Perfect for sisig! Also, we have different types of sisig and I chose mine with mayo and sunny side up.

This dishes I made for today looked simple but I used up most of my energy today to cook it. Apart from cooking, the cleaning of pans and other cooking utensils is what I dislike too.

Anyway, I ended the day lighting up an incense as I rest. I also made my own incense holder instead of purchasing one. This small glass container is a peanut butter container. Good thing I didn't throw it right away, now I was able to reuse it for another purpose. I just filled it with salt so you could just poke the incense stick anywhere in the container.

The incense smells good and I like it because it fills the room with its pleasant smell. I also used this coaster I crocheted a long time ago to catch the ashes in case it doesn't fall inside the glass. Lighting incense helps me clear my mind for a moment and focus on positive thoughts.

Such a tiring day but still a great Sunday for me. I'll share the recipes of the dishes I made on the upcoming days. Anyway, it's already Monday as I publish this post. Hello, December!

Have a great week ahead!

Thanks for reading! ☆

That's a satisfyingly goof breakfast. Is the trillion-peso-march was the appetizer? Haha. But in reality, it's kinda sad that we had to resort to it, and the government is still not doing any legal actions to those accountable.

My guess is that those in power are also connected or maybe friends with those involved with corruption. Or they themselves are corrupt as well. No one just dares to expose them. Our country is doomed.
