Music of the Vietnam War / Part 2

in Ecency5 hours ago

Hello, gentlemen, here I am with part two of this great post and also to pay tribute to those men, women and children who died in this great war. There are great songs in this era and I want to put them all on.

So let's start.

Rock and popular music that played in Vietnam

Soldiers and civilians alike listened to these songs, many of which evoked nostalgia or spoke indirectly to the mood of the times:

"Purple Haze" - Jimi Hendrix (1967):

Representative of the psychedelic and countercultural spirit. And as you know, there was no one like him.

"Light My Fire" - The Doors (1967):

A favorite of the hippie movement that also reached the troops.

Wilson Pickett - In the Midnight Hour

Another great song to encourage the troops, which I really don't know how he did to get them off the battlefield. They were great warriors.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - All Along The Watchtowe

The Jimi Hendrix Experience, a legendary cover of Bob Dylan's original song. Hendrix's version, released in 1968 on the album Electric Ladyland, is one of the most iconic reinterpretations in rock history.

"Paint It Black" de The Rolling Stones

As you may know, this song appears as a soundtrack in several Vietnam Wars movies, especially in the movie Full Metal Jacket.

Nancy Sinatra - These Boots Are Made for Walkin

"These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" is an iconic song by Nancy Sinatra, released in 1966 as part of her album Boots. Written by Lee Hazlewood, the song is a blend of pop and country that captures a bold and empowering attitude that was revolutionary for its time.

Soul y R&B

These songs provided comfort and energy to those seeking mental escape from the stress of war:

"My Girl" - The Temptations (1965):

A classic that evoked nostalgia and love. With this song we enter the section of Soul and R&B songs that were heard during the war.

Well, gentlemen, I'll stop here today because there are many songs in different styles and I don't want to leave any behind, so tomorrow there will be more and better.
