Ah, good to hear. I have heard different from multiple sources. But I think it really depends on what you are buying and what you are willing to cook. I am of the mind that a home-cooked meal doesn't have to taste like a restaurant most of the time. I keep it pretty simple and try to make sure there is more vegetables. Salmon is good here also, though I don't think it is cheap. Cheaper than steak though.
