Helping is good and makes you feel good as well. You've been fortunate to have people helping you along the way here on Hive. I had some people help as well but most of it I learned myself. It's tough getting started, I remember all the post with less than one Hive earned! I don't miss those days!

There are many things we learned here and as you said, I also remember when my results here at Hive were horrible haha, but with time and a lot of work everything started to improve and clearly the people who helped me, cleared up doubts and everything else, for I look at newbies who come in today in a completely different way, always trying to help in some way, as they remind me of my beginnings.
That's what doing good is, even if we're not intimate yet, it's good to try to help people who are starting out.
