Getting to know the San Cristobal market

A few days ago I went with my friend to visit the market of San Cristobal and visit a friend of hers who sells Andean pastries and we sat down to eat some baked and fried ones, the idea was to try them since I had never tried them and although we are both in a sling without flour, well, it was inevitable not to eat those cakes that by the way were great and the friend was too kind. After that we went for a walk and bought some things like vegetables, legumes and I met a branch called "marjoram" that gives a touch and taste to the food uff, too rich. It can be prepared with chicken, meat, fish etc. I didn't know it but supposedly you can get it in nurseries and they say it is from Portugal. There were some fruits that I was totally unaware of and I also saw purple basil which is supposedly more intense than green. Then we will go shopping to make purple pesto and see how that turns out. The people here are very very friendly and make you feel at home, it is one of the things I liked the most about San Cristobal.
