The combination of protein from sardines and carbohydrates like rice and potatoes provides energy for post-lunch activities. Sardines contain high-quality protein, including omega-3 fatty acids, which are good for the heart and brain. Sardines can also be prepared quickly, making them perfect for those of us with limited time when preparing lunch.

Many people add potatoes to stir-fried sardines because potatoes have a neutral flavor and a natural sweetness that balances the savory, salty, or spicy flavors of the sardines and spices, enriching the dish's flavor.
