Blind tasting: which Thai noodles turned out to be the best?

in #food3 days ago

There are only four days left before our departure from Thailand. I have accumulated a lot of photo material, and there is something to tell and show, but now I need to prepare for the trip and do a lot of things. Therefore, there is no time for photo editing and frequent posts yet.

But today, unpacking, cleaning and packing my suitcases, I came across four different packages of instant noodles. I didn’t want to throw away the food, and I decided that it would be better to conduct a small tasting review.

We will test brands unknown to me, which I have never tried before. My son, of course, happily supported this experiment! 😃

I don’t remember the cost of each noodle and I won’t even try to translate the Thai inscriptions to find out the composition - let it be a blind tasting.

First impressions:

№ 1. The first jar contained four bags of ingredients and a plastic fork. The noodles were white and did not look very appetizing.

№ 2. The second jar surprised me - there were no additional bags, all the additives were already at the bottom, plus a standard fork.

№ 3. The third package had two bags - one large with liquid sauce and pieces of meat. And also a fork with three tines. At that moment, I thought that maybe this would be a winner.

№ 4. The fourth package had one bag with spices and dried vegetables at the bottom, but for some reason there was no fork. But the color of the noodles looked very appetizing.

Tasting:

I pour boiling water over everything and wait... Along the way, we place bets on which noodles will be the most delicious. My son immediately chose his favorite even before the tasting - number 2. Apparently, he was attracted by the packaging. 😆

Verdict:

🥉 4th place (No. 1) - the worst noodles of all. Completely stuck together and turned into paste. The jar immediately went into the trash can.

🥈 3rd place (No. 3) – at first glance, the noodles had a good texture, chunks of meat… but it lacked a rich flavor. Plus too much oil. Alas, also in the trash.

🥇 2nd place (No. 2) – a pleasant taste of chicken broth, moderately salty, not too spicy. My son ate this portion with pleasure.

🏆 1st place (No. 4) – egg noodles with the aroma of beef broth. Very tasty! I started to eat it, but then my wife joined in… and in the end she got it! 😂

Photos in order of deliciousness:

Result: I wrote a post, my wife and son had a snack, and most importantly – we had a great time together!

I thought you were a foreigner that's a permanent citizen in Thailand. So you're traveling back to your native country? Goodluck on your travels.

How long did you have that instant noodles before deciding to eat it?

It is impossible to obtain citizenship in Thailand (there is such a law, but in reality it is not realistic) - they stood in the closet for 3 months)) I didn’t even look at the expiration date, but this is a product that should not spoil quickly)

Ohhh that's saddening. I thought Thailand would favourable immigration laws.
As for the product, I guess they have some solid preservatives.

Amazing my friend, at a glance you give us knowledge about Thailand, not just its beautiful places but also its culinary and snacks👍
