Esta semana me fui con mis papás a hacer el mercado semanal y terminamos desayuno-almorzando en el Supermercado Río, así que vengo a contarle cuales son los platos salados que siempre acostumbramos a pedir cuando pasamos por ahí.
Río Súper Market, es un gigante de supermercados (por cierto, creo que a este punto ya se adueñó de todo el país) que tiene casi de todo, incluyendo feria con comida para que las personas consuman al salir de hacer las compras semanales.
Les cuento esto, porque hace poco aprendí que los Súper mercados en muchos lugares del mundo no son así, solo venden las cosas propias de los supermercados como alimentos o productos de limpieza y nada más; sin embargo, en mi país casi todos tienen, al menos, una pequeña feria de comida y creo que este es de los que la tiene más grande.
Usualmente cuando salimos a hacer las compras al súper, me siento con mis papás y nos comemos un dulce y tomamos café, pero esta vez se nos hizo la hora del almuerzo y ni siquiera habíamos desayunado, por lo que procedimos a pedir alguno de los platos salados que siempre pedimos.
This week I went with my parents to do the weekly market and we ended up having breakfast-lunch at Supermercado Rio, so I am here to tell you which are the salty dishes that we always order when we go there.
Rio Super Market is a supermarket giant (by the way, I think it has taken over the whole country at this point) that has almost everything, including a food fair for people to eat when they get out of doing their weekly shopping.
I tell you this, because I recently learned that Super Markets in many places in the world are not like that, they only sell things typical of supermarkets such as food or cleaning products and nothing else; however, in my country almost all of them have, at least, a small food fair and I think this is one of the ones that has the biggest.
Usually when we go shopping at the supermarket, I sit with my parents and we eat a sweet and drink coffee, but this time it was lunch time and we had not even had breakfast, so we proceeded to order some of the savory dishes that we always order.
Mis papas pidieron "pastelitos" de queso crema, no sé cómo le dicen en sus países, pero aquí llamamos "pastelitos" a estos dulces salados triangulares compuestos de masa de hojaldre con distintos rellenos, en este caso ellos pidieron de queso crema con jamón de pavo, según me dijeron estaban muy buenos, perdón, no tomé fotos del relleno, pero confíen en mí, se veían muy bien y tenían bastante relleno.
Por mi parte, quise irme esta vez con uno de ricota con acelgas, siempre me ha gustado este pastelito, el cual, como ven, tiene una forma un poco diferente porque uno de los lados lo dejan al descubierto; este en especial me gusta, ya que soy intolerante a la lactosa y es uno de los pocos tipos de quesos que puedo comer.
Seré sincera, en esta ocasión no me gustó del todo, creo que le faltaba algo de sal a la ricota porque, aun cuando se ve muy provocativo en la fotografía, sentí que no sabía a casi nada, lo cual fue muy triste, pero, ni modo, tenía mucha hambre e igual me lo comí aunque no lo disfruté del todo.
My parents ordered cream cheese "pastelitos", I don't know how they say it in your countries, but here we call "pastelitos" to these triangular savory sweets made of puff pastry dough with different fillings, in this case they ordered cream cheese with turkey ham, according to what they told me they were very good, sorry, I did not take pictures of the filling, but trust me, they looked very good and had enough filling.
For my part, I wanted to go this time with a ricotta with chard, I have always liked this pastry, which, as you can see, has a slightly different shape because one of the sides is left uncovered; I especially like this one, since I am lactose intolerant and it is one of the few types of cheese I can eat.
I'll be honest, this time I didn't like it at all, I think it lacked some salt in the ricotta because, even though it looks very provocative in the picture, I felt it tasted like almost nothing, which was very sad, but, anyway, I was very hungry and I still ate it even though I didn't enjoy it at all.
Estando ahí, llegó mi hermano y, ya que tampoco había almorzado, aprovechó de pedir 1 pedazo de pizza de las que venden en la panadería, éstas no son una "súper maravilla", pero, si tienes hambre, créeme que te gustará porque viene muy cargada y tiene un sabor y estructura acorde a su precio.
Todo esto lo acompañamos con 3 cafés marrones que estaban ¡geniales! a mí en verdad me gusta el café de este supermercado, siempre me lo hacen con la cantidad de café que les pido, un "marrón", leche de soya y queda delicioso, por eso siempre me ven colocando los post por aquí tomando cafés en él.
Cuando íbamos saliendo del súper nos dimos cuenta de que estaban vendiendo los dulces que más nos gustan: "Pastelitos de manzana", los cuales son una delicia, igual a los salados con masa de hojaldre, pero con relleno dulce, y no siempre están disponibles.
While we were there, my brother arrived and, since he hadn't had lunch either, he took the opportunity to order a slice of pizza from the ones they sell in the bakery, these are not a "super wonder", but, if you are hungry, believe me you will like it because it comes very loaded and has a flavor and structure according to its price.
We accompanied all this with 3 brown coffees that were great! I really like the coffee from this supermarket, they always make it with the amount of coffee I ask for, a "brown", soy milk and it's delicious, that's why you always see me posting posts around here drinking coffees in it.
When we were leaving the supermarket we realized that they were selling the sweets that we like the most: "Pastelitos de manzana", which are a delight, just like the salty ones with puff pastry dough, but with sweet filling, and they are not always available.
Tengo recuerdos de la infancia muy felices de mi mama siempre comprándome uno de estos dulces y llevándonos de regalo a mí y mis hermanos al terminar su trabajo, así que pedimos 3 para llevar y degustarlos después, estaban demasiado buenos ¡se los juro! pero olvidé también tomar las fotos, ya que llegamos muy cansados.
En general me gustan tanto los platos salados, como dulces de este súper, así que les recomiendo que si tienen uno de estos cerca, le den una oportunidad y a los cafés también, porque son una delicia.
Este fue un día de desayuno-almuerzo en el supermercado en un día de correr corres con muchos pendientes que hacer después ¿y a ustedes? ¿Les gustan los platos que venden en las ferias de los supermercados? ¿Los súper mercados de sus países venden este tipo de cosas?
I have very happy childhood memories of my mom always buying me one of these sweets and taking them as a gift to me and my brothers when she finished her work, so we ordered 3 to take away and taste them later, they were too good I swear! but I also forgot to take pictures, since we were very tired.
In general I like both the savory and sweet dishes of this supermarket, so I recommend that if you have one of these nearby, give it a try and the coffees too, because they are a delight.
