Three Challenges - I can't stop eating my favourite food

in Three Challenges8 months ago

It's been a while since we've organised a Three Challenges. This time we're gonna with everyone's favourite - food!! Who doesn't love food! Tell us which are you three favourite food, something that you can't stop eating or so good that you need to share with everybody on Hive.

Let me go first.....😋

Krispy Kreme Donuts

Yeah, I know donuts aren't healthy, but I've never been a healthy eater, and it's not like I eat them all the time. I like Krispy Kreme donuts because they're a little chewy, not too chewy, and the dough isn't too dry or too greasy. The texture is just right, exactly how I like it. But, I only like the original glazed donuts, simplicity at its best. The others with all the bells and whistles topping just take away the simplicity of a perfect donut.

Many years ago Krispy Kreme opened up a new store near me, and I'd drop by every couple of weeks to get a dozen. I can eat 4 or 5 in one go, just enough to satisfy my craving without feeling guilty or wanting to throw up. Then I'd finish off the rest the next day. If my husband is lucky I might let him eat one, or two if he's very lucky 🙃. Now my nearest Krispy Kreme store is about 20 miles away, a little too far to go too often. They also sell them through my local supermarkets but they're a lot more expensive. That's a great excuse to stop me buying them all the time, and only indulge in them when I go to the store. Time for a trip to the store next week, it's been a while.

Oysters

I love most seafood, and oyster ranks at the top. Whenever we see fresh oysters at the market, we always order a dozen to share, and normally we end up ordering another half a dozen because they're so good. Oyster is an acquired taste and I know many people get turned off by the strong fishy taste and slimey texture, but I just love it. When people eat oyster, many layer a lot of shallots, dashes of tabasco sauce and a squirt of lemon on it to reduce the fishy taste. What a waste!!! I prefer to go straight to get the full flavour. I let the oyster swivel in my mouth before I chew it a little and gulp it down. And if there's some salty oyster juice left on the shell, as all good quality fresh oysters should have, I tip those few drops down as well to round everything off. OMG!! I can taste the oyster just writing about it!

Oyster is said to have aphrodisiac properties. Of course, my love for oysters has got nothing to do with this, but if you want to spice up your love life you should give this a try 😉

Japanese food

Last and not least - Japanese cuisine. Japanese food is so varied, dishes like sushi and ramen are probably the most well known to people, and many from outside of Japan may have had it before. Some of my favorite Japanese food are sashimi (raw pieces of seafood), tempura (prawns or vegetables fried in batter), wagyu beef (yummy), shabu shabu (hot pot), zaru soba (cold buckwheat noodles with a dipping sauce), just to name some of them. There are loads more.

The thing with Japanese food is that even if you go to a normal restaurant or even a small mom and pop place, the chances of getting carefully prepared delicious food is very high.

And if you order a set meal, in addition to the main, there's always going to be a soup, and selection of side dishes that looks too beautiful to eat. To me, eating Japanese food is a complete experience, from the service, the plating, the texture, the colour, the aroma, and of course the food itself. So far not one meal has disappointed me yet.

I love my food so much, that's it's actually been quite difficult to nail it down to three items so I cheated a little with my third one. Now I've shared mine, what about yours? Tell us what is your three favorite food and why. Don't forget to use your own photos, if it's that good, hopefully you will have loads of photos of it.

We also have other challenges open in the Three Challenges community, check them out in the links below. And if you take up the challenge, remember to post in the Three Challenges community

I've worked up an appetite, I know I'm going to have lunch... Bon appetit!

Hope you had a nice lunch. What's in the menu 😀

Oh, I miss eating Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts. My guilty pleasures.

Actually I don't think I've had Dinkin Donuts before, normally if I find something I like I'm pretty loyal and stick to it 🙃

hehe Dunkin Donuts is the first brand we have in the Philippines then Krispy Kreme came after many years since it's an international brand. I love the original glazed of KK though.

I hope I can share mine too, but the food you shared really looks delicious. 😊😊

Will be interesting to see what everyone's favourite food is!

Excited to see some tasty food .😄😄

Greetings @livinguktaiwan ,

Mine agree very closely with yours but alas I have no photographs.however yours will do quite nicely.

Especially Japanese food, You said..

'The thing with Japanese food is that even if you go to a normal restaurant or even a small mom and pop place, the chances of getting carefully prepared delicious food is very high.'

So true...

Kind Regards,

Bleujay

Thanks for dropping by @bleujay

Wow three good choices that I'm all of sudden cravings, thanks a lot, hehe. I'll just speak on Krispy Kremes. Oh my favorites are those warm glazed donuts. Things just melt in your mouth hard to have just one. There use to be quite a few here but now I'm the same as you the closest is about 20 miles away. I remember when they first opened they had one really close to my work that had the assembly line where you could see how they were made from start to finish.

The first time I came across Krispy Kreme was many years ago when I was working in Hong Kong, they opened up a new store with the assembly line which was a real novelty, plus they were giving out free donuts. We queued up after our lunch for the free dessert, then I feel in love with it

Ah cool your first time a lot like mine 😊

I remember the first time I had a Krispy Kreme doughnut, it was so good it practically melted in my mouth. You can't really get them here unless they ship them in from somewhere. By that time they just aren't as good. I'm not a fan of sushi and I have never had oysters. I'd be willing to try them one day though.

Krispy Kreme tend not to last very long in my household 😀, but if there are still any left after a few days I pop them in the microwave for 10 seconds but have to eat it immediately otherwise it goes very rubbery.

Oysters is a tricky one, I think you'll either love it or hate it.

I mean, I've been known to eat a cold couple day old doughnut.... They just aren't quite as good 😃

Your story is yummy itself! 😋 But Japanese food would be my favorite. Although, right now I miss my cardamon cake 😊

I've never had cardamom cake before, only used cardamom once to make a beef broth. What's your on other favourite foods?

I know you love tasty food, and so do I, and I just realized what a difficult choice it was for you to pick 3 favorites. I cannot! I love fish and seafood, and also love meat, and cannot live without cheese :D There are many tasty foods worldwide, and I think my preferences very much depend on the mood and other circumstances. 😊

I'd be keen on Japanese and oysters (Tassie has the best oysters) but you can have all the donuts to yourself.

you can have all the donuts to yourself.

I'd be very happy with it that 😀

I've never had Tassie oysters before, probably a bit far to travel here. Really must get over to Australia again some time

I've never been much of a donut fan. Sometimes I will stop at Mr Donut if I see a matcha donut, but otherwise I rarely eat them.

But needless to say, I'm totally with your last choice!

Why am I not surprised there's a matcha donut in Japan 🙃, must check it out next time I'm in Japan.

Oh, I also love eating donuts. I usually eat dunkin donuts, I just rarely had the Krispy Kreme for the store selling it is only in the City.

If I wasn't worried about the sugar and grease, I'd be eating quite a lot more donuts as well. Now I save it for special moments to treat myself

Yeah, eating too much of it is not so good too.

In a bit more than a week, I will have the opportunity to have some of my favourite foods from Mom's kitchen. I hope to take some photos before we make the dishes disappear ;))

Mom's cooking has gotta be the best, so good you dig in immediately as soon as it lands in the table!

If you do remember to take photos, please do share!!

20 miles to reach the Krispy Kreme Donuts? I have the perfect solution so you can eat a lot of them without being affected? well, I know it doesn't affect you but... I'm just saying.... (I'm sure you've already read my mind) 😁

I think your solution is perfect to balance out they unhealthiness of the donut. Work hard and eat hard, right? Then I can even have some chocolate afterwards and not feel guilty. Done 👍

😄🚴‍♀

I've never tried raw oysters, I think I'll have to pass on this one.

But I am curious about the krispi kreme donut wrap.

It's a pity your husband only gets donuts when he's lucky. Why don't you just buy a few extra and give them to him XD

I also like to eat oysters, but I only eat them in certain places because some places have very good oysters and some are terrible.

I might write mine but I should take photos first!

I love a good doughnut, must be featherlight, filled with cream or just plain. Krispy Kreme now is in South Africa, my sister-in-law who's not a sweet tooth, told me how addictive they are. No guessing what's on my radar after reading your post!
My Grandpa used to eat fresh Oysters off the rocks, always carried a pocket knife and used to pry it from the rocks. We used to be fascinated with this, but it was way too much of an effort so he never shared it.
Sushi is my absolute favourite, a friend treated me last week, it was deeevine!
I now have an excuse to go out and treat myself to irresistible treats so I can join this challenge, yummmm, Krispy Kreme here I come!

Fresh oysters a taste I enjoyed from the first time, in my late teens went to quite an expensive restaurant and was 'dared' to try them by an associate, well that was it. Fresh lemon light squeeze and chewy delicious.

Best oysters ever was along the coast where they are farmed, served as a starters before dinner, husband hated them I dug in yummy!

Nice foods for your top three, difficult to nail down when we all enjoy food so much.
