My Simple Breakfast

Hello everyone! @qurator is hosting a cooking contest called Hive Top Chef Competition. It is an interesting weekly challenge and the theme for this week is '15 Min Meal'. This is my submission for the contest.

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper
  • 1 orange cherry tomato
  • 1 yellow cherry tomato
  • 4 crackers
  • 5 almonds
  • 5 teabags
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons of powdered milk

The Process

First of all, set some water in your regular boiling pot and turn the fire on. Turn the fire to high flame. This is to make some milk tea as the beverage. I'm not a fan of coffee, hence I stick to tea. I find black tea a little bland and prefer milk tea.

In the meantime, it's time to prepare the breakfast meal. Add a teaspoon of butter into the pan. Break the butter pieces and mix them around so they get all over the pan. You can also lift the pan so the butter runs everywhere.

Then, crack two eggs into the pan. If you store eggs for a long time, then crack them into a bowl first to avoid adding a bad egg into the pan. I don't store them for too long and they're fresh so I just crack them straight into the pan.

Then, break the egg yolk so it runs around a little evenly to make sure it is cooked better. I prefer not to have a runny yolk. But if you like runny yolk then you can skip doing that.

This is how it looks after moving the yolks all around.

Add salt to taste.

Add some pepper for seasoning as per your liking. I go heavy on the black pepper because I like the eggs to be savoury.

It is almost 60% done here.

Then, turn the eggs over so the back of the eggs is cooked too. While they're cooking, check the water. It is probably boiled now so turn the fire off and pour the needed amount of water into your teapot. I use a separate pot for tea because boiling the tea bags in water directly may make the tea bitter. So I pour the amount of water needed for 5 cups into the tea container and add in the teabags. I let them steep in the water for about 3 minutes.

I would turn the eggs over again just in case to make sure there are no runny bits. Then, I split the eggs into half so that I can share it with my brother.

This is my tea container. Take the teabags out, add in sugar and milk, and mix them. Here it is made for four people with an extra cup as one of my family members drinks two cups a day. I suggest adjusting the amount of teabags, sugar and milk accordingly.

When it is done, pour the tea into the cup.

Here's my plating. That is my half of the egg which is one egg. I love incorporating eggs into my daily means because they are a healthy source of multiple nutrients besides protein. I have also cut up two cherry tomatoes, one orange and one yellow, into halves and sprinkled some pepper on them. They are a source of antioxidants. Then, I added about 5 almonds because they are a good source of protein and and fiber. Finally I added 4 crackers for carbohydrates.

This is my breakfast plate with a cup of tea. It takes around 15 minutes overall if we include the plating. The process of making the eggs may seem long based on this post but it is actually quite fast in real. The same goes to the tea as it only takes about 5 minutes for a full pot of water to be boiled and a few extra minutes to make the tea.

Ecency still seems to have an issue with transparent backgrounds so I made it all white. Thanks for dropping by and thank you to @qurator again for hosting this contest because it gave me a chance to share my simple breakfast. Have a great day ahead!
