Do you have Hokkaido or Kuri (orange chestnut shaped one) in UK? I learned we can eat the skin so it became my favorite. I only remove its top, bottom and some damaged parts when it has. Of course I learned this trick in Germany, the wild forest country 😁
I normally buy my fruit and veg from the supermarkets, so they only have the most common and economical variety. I might have seen some other varieties from farmer markets in UK, and when I was on holiday in Japan, the farmer markets by the highway service stations are great, but I don't know what variety those are. Probably a lot nicer than the ones I buy from my supermarket
