Butternut squash is such a lovely soup for winter, but I hate peeling the skin, it's so thick I always think I might cut my fingers off
Do you have Hokkaido or Kuri (orange chestnut shaped one) in UK? I learned we can eat the skin so it became my favorite. I only remove its top, bottom and some damaged parts when it has. Of course I learned this trick in Germany, the wild forest country 😁
I normally buy my fruit and veg from the supermarkets, so they only have the most common and economical variety. I might have seen some other varieties from farmer markets in UK, and when I was on holiday in Japan, the farmer markets by the highway service stations are great, but I don't know what variety those are. Probably a lot nicer than the ones I buy from my supermarket
Thank you! I see what you said. I have my handy peeler, but I must be careful not to peel my fingers. I sometimes cut butternut squash into small pieces before peeling. Then, I remove the skin when I have time. Anyway, it's great to have warm soup in the cold winter for sure.
