RE: Caramelized Fig, Feta, and Biltong Pasta: A Quick Lunch Recipe

I planted some basil seeds last week, I desperately want to make some basil pesto! I am glad that you can at least grow them inside! I did not realise that they do well indoors. That is so interesting! Do you have growing lights?

Hope you manage to make some pesto 😊
In the summer months I took down the growing lights. But now as the daylight we get, gets less and less…. I have to put the lights on again. As sunset is already at 15:30h. Soon we only have light for 4 hours.
Basil does very well inside. Try it out. I have them at a north / east facing window.

All my seedlings I had to start inside under grow light as there was still snow until June.

Oh my, I might then just try to grow some indoors! The kitchen gets most of the sun throughout the day, so perfect spot to grow some basil. The smell is intoxicating when you rub them or even just brush past them.

Thank you so much! Nothing like some freshly made pesto.

Oh that is so intriguing. I remember the early sunset when I was in Sweden, it really messed with my brain, I always got hungry (as we normally ate at sunset) and I was sleepy-tired at 5 pm because my body thought it was long enough time in the dark and it wanted to sleep.

Sounds like a perfect spot for the basil. Oh I know… when I look at my kitchen window I might touch the rosemary and sage too… it just smells so good 😊

Yep… I have the same. It is totally messing with my body clock. Thinking it is bedtime but it is only 1800h.
So weird… in many ways. The sun is very low now. Luckily today a sunny day, later we get more snow ❄️

I always dry some rosemary and lavender in the window, so the kitchen always smells nice. Adding basil will make it just that much better!

Oh I would never understand and come to grips with that! My body as you say will already be asleep hahah. Luckily we do not have that problem here. (Or not that bad, in my town the sun only sets around 20:00 but where my fiance live the sun sets at 18:30, so I still experience it in some sense!)

Yes, the smells… lovely.

I fully understand.
Here it is changing quickly now. A week ago sunset was already at 1600h
Now it is already 1500h it will get less and less fast.
I posted today a sunset from last Thursday. It was epic.

A big difference for the two of you. One will notice.
Have a nice Sunday 😊

Oh my, that really sounds crazy. So much less sun, and even the little sun you get is probably not that effective in terms of UV rays (for vitamin D) and for heating you up. I know, in the winter, I always sit in the sun to warm up a bit, as the houses in South Africa are not built to keep warmth inside, the houses become colder than the outside in the winter!

In any case, I hope that you had a good weekend!

No it is not… we started taking vitamins so we won’t encounter a shortage of vitamins. As D we don’t really get now.

Sounds the same like the houses in the south of Spain. No heating or insulation. So colder inside than outside.

Thanks, I did. Hope you too. Have a fantastic week 👋🏻😊

I have seen in my brother, who lives in the UK, how pale he has gotten since living there. You don't realise how big of an impact the sun has on your life unless you live without it for a while! Dangerous stuff if you don't get all of the vitamins in through your diet and environment.

Oh my, so it is not just a South African problem, haha! It really gets bad, as in the summer the houses traps heat, and in the winter it insulates the cold. Never in balance!
