Exactly 18 days ago, I celebrated my 37th birthday at North Zen Villas in Panglao. Today, let me share our experience at North Zen Villa's in-house restaurant, SEADS. According to their website, the name SEADS comes from two words, seafood and seeds. Not sure how they come up with the seeds though and we also didn't order any seafood!
The above photo shows the restaurant during the day while the below images show when it was evening time at the restaurant. With the moon shining and the lights of the resort illuminating the environment, guests could choose if they'd like to dine inside or just stay at the al fresco table and bar.
It was humid as we came from their bamboo walk for the sunset view so we opted to stay inside. It's refreshing to be in an air-conditioned room after spending hours outside. At this point, my mood had changed because our DJI Osmo pocket had just swam into the seawater. We were trying to dry it up. I even asked the staff for some uncooked rice and they were so nice to give me a lot! I only asked for a few handfuls. I placed the camera gear inside a ziplock filled with uncooked rice and prayed that this would help and that the camera would still work although I had a feeling that this wouldn't because it is non-waterproof plus it has gimbal motors around.
Still, I gave it a try. My husband, on the other hand, was just outside, trying to calm himself. There was a little drama a few minutes ago and I was giving him time because this was his favorite and we just bought it in October in Thailand as it was sold out in Bohol and Cebu last year. Not sure though if they had restocked this year already.
Anyway, let's have a look at SEADS interiors.
There's a mural painting of a woman with a Japanese hairstyle, quite cool though. They have a native-style ceiling design made of woven abaca or buli. I am not sure but they seemed to be familiar and realizing it now, I remember this was the same ceiling design at South Farm's restaurant too! I get it, they are just sister companies.
The chairs look nice too! They have several tables inside which can accommodate couples or groups. They also have this round table at the center of the restaurant.
This wall of art tiles caught my attention. It added vibrancy especially since it is placed right at the doorside. So it welcomes guests right away upon entry.
And oh they got nice floating wooden tables with comfortable cushioned lounges, Japanese style sitting with the huge hanging lights above it.
Red bricks and artistic lights made the restaurant interesting! I love that they were also playing some relaxing music as it set the atmosphere so even if there were so many customers when we arrived, it didn't feel too noisy although it was a little noisy, the music had somehow muted it out.
Now let's talk about the food.
We were a group of ten adults and five kids. We looked at the menu and can conclude they have a pricey menu, but there should be a reason for it and I hoped their food would taste spectacular for their price.
But the entrance fee here comes with full consumables so we took advantage of it. Unfortunately, we can't fit in one table so we have to separate into two tables instead. We ordered the same set of food for the two tables.
Bohol Chicken Nuggets - PHP 498
This is just your normal chicken breast nuggets with a few strips of potato fries on the side and ranch sauce. It's actually good but I think it's super overpriced considering there were only a few pieces of nuggets served.
Beef Soup
I can't find this on their online menu so I forgot the price for this one. My father liked it.
Cake from my sister-in-law. She was about to surprise me but she didn't expect that I'll be in the car there too. So the surprise didn't work. Tehee
Bohol Pork Spare Ribs with Chili Chu Hou Sauce - PHP 780
This was good too with some blue flowers on top, corn cobs and some vegies but the serving was too small!
California Maki Mango Salad - PHP 498
This salad comes with a California maki, three pieces only! It's funny because there were more fried noodles on top than the actual mango. Still, it was good but the serving was too small. I think I could eat it by myself but I had to share :)
We ordered some other food like their humba and the some grilled squid but I wasn't able to take photos of them anymore as they arrived later while we were already eating. Also, note that their free cinnamon sticks with that weird-looking green sauce were so good!
We had a long wait because there were so many customers around, and they all got their meals pre-ordered. I regret not ordering earlier, before we went to the Bamboo walk. But still, we got full. They had plenty of rice being served, so those rice lovers out there, you'll love it here!
And here's our family photo! Thank you, fam for making my day extra special! And as we were about to go, we took photos again of the night view of the resort.
This bamboo lanai is something I want to have in my future yard! My brother said this won't cost a lot so I am hoping that we will build that one too soon! Here's the ambiance of the resort at night:
Looking at the pool, while the mellow music is playing, I wished we could stay longer and I can swim again but we have to go back home. This is definitely a great place to spend a chill and relaxing getaway or staycation. If you are into farm animals and fishing, I highly recommend visiting the South Farm as well. You may need a ride going there but surely, you'll enjoy it there especially if you have kids as you can feed animals, ride a horse, ride as well a carabao trolley and more!
Thanks for reading!
